    Hi again!

Buyer seems to have good feedback so far, but I sent the following email to her:
    Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the breakage. I can only assume this was an issue in transit, as you will see in the pictures it was fine when it left here! If you could email me a picture showing the damage I will happily refund your money. I don't know if the auto messages from Ebay show my email address but if not let me know.

    Apologies again.

Hopefully she will send me a wee picture and then I can refund if the thing is broken. I'm quite annoyed by the Royal Mail if it is broken, as it would have to have been hurled about to break it so easily. No more easily smashables sold on Ebay for me

Assuming the picture shows a broken mug, I will refund the money and take it as a lesson learned, but it's making me quite sad that I will lose £8 (£6 mug + postage) and the Ebay fees on top of that too.

On the plus side, I got cheques through today from Music Magpie, which is good news. The money is slowly but surely trickling in :D

Aw that's a shame, difficult one I don't know what I'd do. Nice one that you've got the music magpie money tho, I take it they are pretty reliable then?
I keep putting it off thinking, well I'll take all my cd's to a car boot and offer 50p a go, but to be honest I don't know if I'd make my moneys worth as I haven't got anything else really to sell so it probably wouldn't be worth the car boot fee! Do you reckon I should just chuck them on there?

Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it... :o

I find Music Magpie really good to be honest.

You input the info into the website, they tell you how much the CDs are worth to them. When you get a letter through from them confirming this, it has pre-paid labels for them so it costs you nothing in postage. I think it took about two weeks for my cheque to come through, so it's not massively quick, but it's still money for naff all :D

Recommended if like me you're useless at organising yourself!

Hey f_f - entrepreneur supreme! The mug thing is a pain in the as$ but you've still done really well on Ebay. I still haven't done a car boot yet as we've ended up with really busy weekends. I've had the same prob as you trying to find info on t'internet too - it's all so out of date!

Anyway, need to catch up on a few more threads. I'm gutted i missed the doughnuts :p

Did you get proof of posting from the post office when you sent the item? If you did I think there is some sort of insurance with that,up to a minimal amount (£17?). The below is from the Royal Mail website

For items posted with Royal Mail which have no intrinsic value, or where a customer cannot provide evidence of posting, there will be compensation for loss, damage and delay of a minimum of 6 x 1st class stamps at the first weight step. In the event of a compensation claim for loss we will refund the postage paid or 6 x 1st class stamps at the first weight step, whichever is greater.

    For lost or damaged items that have an intrinsic value, with evidence of posting with Royal Mail (such as a certificate of posting) and evidence of value (such as an invoice or receipt) customers will be entitled to a postage refund plus compensation for actual loss up to the value of the item, or 100 x 1st class stamps at the first weight step, whichever is the lowest;

Go on to the Royal Mail website and search for compensation

That's really useful info, Pointy. Hope you can get something out of that, f_f ;)

    Exactly!!

How does anything get broken if you smother it in bubblewrap?!!

She's clearly never seen the 'Friends' episode where they wrap Joey in bubblewrap and takes turns in kicking him!

No problem, I only know this as I read the terms and conditions on the proof of posting thingy once when i started out Ebaying, who knew the info in my head would be useful for something one day:D

Good luck with getting it sorted with Royal Mail as they are generally a pain in the bum, hopefully they don't give you all the compensation in stamps either or you will have to do lots of posting in future.

Have now had another email from the buyer asking for my email so she can send a picture. She has said thanks for the nice email (As I apologised for Royal Mail error) and offered to go halves with me, which is awesome! I'm going to refund her the full cost minus postage and take it as a lesson not to sell smashable things. Sodding Royal Mail *mutters*
