You don't sound pushy at all.. very helpful actually!
Bit irritating as I purely chose a meal replacement program so I didn't need to calculate points, count calories etc etc :( Nevermind, lol. Think I'll just stick to my 2 shakes a day and a low carb meal at night and see how it goes. I did South Beach diet before I got pregnant so I know a few tricks and recipes for low carb meals. I'll take a look at the CS forums though, thanks X
  • Prior to losing 5 stone this year my dietician had me on loads of diets, all which had limited success. Yes, you can lose a few pounds or maybe a stone-and-a-bit but for serous weight loss you have to exercise regularly. All the GP guidance on exercise I have come across , however, is about as effective as a one-legged man in a backside kicking competition. Everyone’s metabolism is different therefore what is sauce for the goose isn’t necessary sauce for the gander.

A 30 minute brisk walk with the mutt is neither use nor ornament. To lose weight you really need to get the heart going to burn calories off. You need to be breathing quite heavily but not so out of breathe that you can’t speak. I sweat bucket loads when I’m exercising. If you aren’t perspiring then the heart isn’t working fast enough and you will never lose much weight.

The other myth about dieting that few professionals or books will tell is that if you are exercising properly then dieting is the last thinkg you need to be doing. This is because it you are not eating a good balanced diet while exercising you would quickly become weak as a kitten and find yourself without much energy. You would just run out of steam.

Getting back to the ‘all-in-the-mind’ problem of overcoming apathy when exercising and dieting, I took a great deal of reassurance from what French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre said about the human instinct. He said that whenever we come across situations in life where our instinct tells us "not" to do something we simple kick our instinct into touch and do the opposite. You wake up one morning and think of going for a cycle ride or go to the gym, and once your instinct later tries to change your mind and do something less healthy, you ignore your instinct and do what you originally set out to do. It’s a doddle once you learn how to master your own mind.

Losing weight is a simple calories in < calories burnt. Considering we use loads of calories just being alive and breathing everyday, and even more walking and going about our lives, if you follow a VLCD like we are then you're going to lose weight without added exercise.

Anyway, I know this was naughty but I jumped on the scales this morning (start of day 3) and omfg I've lost 6lbs! Probably all water but who cares :D A loss is a loss.

Well done Flower that is great! :j

I have not taken any measurements yet but my 8 weeks are up tomorrow so will do them then. Usually do my weigh in on a Wednesday when it's my day off (I like using Boots' scales) but have to go away on Wednesday so will do it tomorrow-taking a days holiday, wee one at nursery, hubby at work pure bliss ;):D!

I have a wee confession though, was invited round to Mum's on Saturday for a steak but i was good, didn't have chips etc had roasted veg instead.......but I did have a slice of banoffee pie :o! Hopfully it wont have done too much damage!

Keep up the great work everyone, we are all going to look fab at Christmas (or so I keep telling myself, even if it will be next Christmas, have to keep positive lol!) xxx

Good afternoon everyone! Just a very quick post (I'm in work) but wanted to post my weight loss this week which was 2lbs. I'm a bit disappointed considering the huge amount I have to lose but I'm trying to concentrate on the fact it is 10lbs 4oz over two weeks!

I'll be back later this evening to catch up on the thread!

    Keep going everyone! :j

Well done everyone who lost :D

I'm on day 5, not cheated yet and I feel rubbish. Think I have a cold or something. I'm choked up with a very sore head and tired :( Think its prob a combination of not eating much and the common cold, ugh.

Stolli that's great, don't be disheartened. It's funny I had a great weight (fluid) loss the first week and like you 2Ibs the 2nd week (I was going to say only 2Ibs, but 2Ibs is still a decent amount of weight to lose in a week!) but I understand how how feel as I was pretty gutted too. Just keep at it, it will come off. x

Thanks for the encouragement Teenie.... I think it's just knowing that it's going to be a long slog.... Oh well have to take it in small chunks I guess. My first goal is 18th December when I go on holiday - OMG just realised that's less than 5 weeks from now! Back to the water.... slurp!
