I know what you mean about having credit for emergencies, but I would probably keep lowering the od and keep a credit card for emergencies.

Probably sensible - as most of my 'emergencies' involve shoes :o:D

Sorry for posting and running last night. After a week averaging 2 hours sleep a night, I finally reached the arms of Morpheus(? ;)) and have slept for over 12 hours. I think that's a first ever. Woke up with OH peering over me in a rather concerned manner, either that or he had indigestion, can't tell without the contacts :p; I think he was starting to worry. :D

Glad to hear you back with a plan, Shoebeedoo, and a fine plan at that. I don't think I could manage the Slimfast (you are a brave woman), but I'll certainly keep you company with a two week salad plan. It's getting perilously close to my hols, and I can still see too much gut, which is extremely unattractive. So far today I've had a cup of coffee (but then I've not been awake for long), and I think it will be a tuna nicoise later. And no harm in reminding CrushMan what he is missing.;)

Sarah - Thanks for the compliment, but I was absolutely thinking the same thing about you - you express it so much better than I ever can. And that's some great advice about the shoe emergency fund...

I am coming to the conclusion that this debt management/not spending loads lark only works if we allow ourselves a bit of room where we can. I am great at beating myself up for the occasional daft spend (this week £28 in Boots sale on stuff I will use), and it really does no good. I see it as being like a volcano, in that the occasional fetid fumes from the summit avoid a full scale eruption. Same principle with work, goddess-management programme, etc. If only we can train ourselves to think that one "failure" is not the start of a slippery slope, but just about being good to ourselves and having the occasional treat. I'll let you know if I crack that one...

Shoe Gal - sorry to keep banging on about working from home, but could/would you be able to do something like a day every 3 weeks or so? That's about what I used to manage, and it would keep me going when all else failed. Will now step off soapbox & slink away...:o

I am off to take some pictures of this week's eBay listings while it's nice and sunny on the landing. Hope you have some nice Sunday things planned. ShoeGal - do you have a balcony? Or a nearby park? There's definitely a bit of "sit in the garden" programmed into my afternoon (possibly goddessing at the same time - I have worked out that I can exfoliate lower limbs/hose down/moisturise/gradual tan outside if it is warm enough, athough the hosing down is a bit . I try to persuade myself it is like an extreme spa treatment.)

    Aaarghhh!!

Got off to a good start, been out and got the Slim Fast and been to the gym but ...... now my washing machine has broken!!! Fortunately there isn't water everywhere but just had to go round to my Mum's with a basket of sopping wet washing  This can only mean more expense just when I don't need it

Unfortunately I don't have a balcony but people have started to sit on the grass outside, I think somebody was even having a barbeque last night :D

Going to to go and sit in my Mum's garden - and take another load of washing round :D Aren't Mum's great :A

Commiserations on the poorly washing machine. Mine had an unfortunate attack of incontinence about 3 months ago, possibly induced by OH, but (whispers) has been fine since. Perhaps it's still embarrassed? Hope yours is either cheaply repairable or just having a bad day & will get back on track. And mums are indeed invaluable and fabulous...

I haven't bought any for a while, the best thing is to just not look, I know it is difficult but it has worked more or less with clothes shopping, I hardly look anymore, so there is no temptation in my way. We will have to make do with what we have. Maybe you could treat yourself with a pair when your overdraft is cleared? :j

Do you have any idea when your overdraft will be cleared? If it is only a couple of months you could maybe wait and do your washing at your mum's in the meantime? I only ever do mine at the weekend and manage fine without one during the week, and it would be a shame if you had more expense to put on the cc. A pain to keep having to do it elsewhere for a while but you might feel more relaxed about the expense if the overdraft is done and dusted.

Unfortunately it will be at least 9 months before I can clear my overdraft :o My budget is very tight with all my other debt payments so I'm only able to pay £100 a month towards my overdraft

Not sure I can put upon my poor Mum for that long

    Hi

Not too bad today - apart from the washing machine!

    Positives:
    • been to the gym
    • stuck to diet
    • painted toenails
    • filed nails
    • drank 1.5 litres water
Determined to give the diet a go this week - and try to exercise as much as possible

Will keep updating so you lovely people can keep me on track :D

    Hi Shoe Gal

Was curious about the man situation so checked out your diary.

Have you tried your washing machine since it broke? Agree with Hollyberry, it might be temporary. My machine leaked earlier this year, but hasn't leaked since. Figured maybe I'd put too much in it or too much soap or something. Maybe try it again, with something old that you don't care too much about?
