Well first week back at work this week and it has felt so long, have done some stocking up of the freezer whilst off (soups, curry, spag bol and chilli) so this should help with the food budget and quick meals after work

Downgraded some items in the supermarket to save some pennies this week, mainly natural youghurt that I added some whizzed up mango (I froze it in a ice cube tray so I can add a few cubes to the yoghurt) Had to buy some tubs to take it to work it but it should pay for itself in about 2 weeks

Nearly the end of the first month, so have to add up all money that can be made as the first overpayment for this year
Have come under my shopping budget by 85 so that is going towards, cancelled gym membership so that will be 40, saved on house insurance 190 and have about 10 in the jar so should be a nice tidy sum when I write the cheque

    Cheers chaps

At work at the moment, but have cheque in bag to take the bank for £347 when I finish

Went into the Halifax after work with my cheque and handed it over, how lovely to get a receipt. worked out that the money I had paid off, is an overpayment this month of 164% (why are excel spreadsheets starting to be fun)
Went over to Barclays to close my account there and they gave me the remaining balance of £474 in cash, so went back to Halifax with the wad of cash in my pocket and paid 470 of my mortgage (another lovely receipt) The £4 was 2 £2 pound coins so thought I would put them in my jar
So my total for January is £817, how chuffed am I

Whilst at the bank handing over the money I got to sit down and have a chat with one of the bank advisors about mortgage etc.
Glad to hear that if I did get made redundant that the overpayments are taken into account, but I didn't take up the offer of redundancy protection.

Told my parents that I have made an overpayment and mum said "I thought that people said that you shoudn't pay back your mortgage early". I asked which people and she replied "the bank people" Made me chuckle

Radish, good luck with your plans.

Using CTax & water DD free months are great for OP's as it's money already budgeted for. However I may have to use mine this year to clear OD as my plan to pay it off with money found in street is not very successful (18p and €0.12 in 2 months :o)
