    Many thanks

    Hi,

Just to let you know my DRO was approved today :j.

Good luck with your appliaction, any questions just ask x
  • I am looking into a DRO, just got to ring CAB to make an appointment (been getting advice and help on an appeal for Income Support).

One of my creditors is Halifax which is where my main bank account is (basic current account, no overdraft on it though) so am guessing I wont be able to use that.

I do have another account with Santander which I have had for about 15 years (back when it was Abbey National), its a completely basic account, not even a debit card but can have wages paid etc into it.

I am wondering if I will be able to continue using this account? I have no debt with them.

Also for income, at present I am not recieving tax credits and am hoping to win the appeal for income support, but expect both to take a good few months (ex partner still living here but totally independant financially.) All I am getting is about £200 every four weeks from work and £80 child benefit, which only just covers my monthly repayments or monthly bills but not both.

Obviously I am gonna to need this money to live on so I am unable to pay my creditors next month, but am a tad bit scared to not pay them. Would writing to them be an idea? I dont do talking on the phone, hate it and get shaky and words muddled up.

    Sorry for the long post!

    Hi,

Hopefully someone will be along soon who can offer more advice.

I can only tell you of my experience, with regards to the bank account I have opened an cashminder account with Co-op which is for people that are BR or have DRO etc. I've been told basic bank account with Barclays is also good.

I have also a Natwest account no overdraft and no debt with them and I'm waiting to see if they close this. As i know some banks do credit checks (think Santander do) and once they find out I have a DRO they may close the account.

With regards to benefits I'd speak to CAB when you get your appointment as my concern is that if your appealing and then get paid quite amount in back payment this may affect whether a DRO would suitable. If you need advice on income and outgoings you could post your SOA up using http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html

Although I contacted my creditors my letter explaining that I could no longer make minimum payments and advised them I was seeking advice from CCCS I did not tell them I was applying for DRO, so not sure whether you should write and tel them.

    Hope the above helps alittle.

Would like to know exactly what he consider's small though, and if it at least means those that opted out of serps will no longer be excluded:(
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(
  • Just a couple of questions;

I recently opened up a Natwest current account prior to DRO (I have no debt with Natwest) then when decided to apply for DRO I opened up a Co-op Cashminder. Does anyone have a Natwest account and not have it closed by then after DRO?

Also the day my DRO application was submitted I check all my balances to make sure they were accurate, however hours later Virgin added £70 (so this was not on the DRO) I've spoke to B&E (who helped me to apply for the DRO) and have been told to wait and see and that they reckon I shouldn't have to pay this, however got my DRO approval papperwork through today and it has the Virgin debt at what it was and not with the extra £70. Hust wondered if anyone had a similar experience? before I phone IS tomorrow.

After reading this thread I felt a DRO was the way for me, up until a few weeks ago I didn't even know what a DRO WAS! Thank you!

I took advice from this thread and opened a NatWest Step account. Today I have phones CCCS for the first time and they took details and someone is calling me back tomorrow. I did ask if the NatWest account would be safe and they said it would and they would have advised me to open one anyway.

I feel now the ball is rolling a little weight has lifted, I am getting calls day and night and feel ill with it all! CCCS gave me a ref No to give them so hopefully they will leave me alone for a while.

So looking forward to this all coming to an end.

Thank you so much for this thread!
