hey debt tired I know how you feel I really do. Before my DRO went through my heart was racing everytime there was a knock at the door and I was dreading the post everyday. If you cant attend meetings etc because of stress or depression why dont you apply for one over the phone. I did mine with B&E and it was only 2 phone calls to a freephone number. When mine went through it was like a weight had been lifted. Now im just trying to stay under the £50 a month surplus.

I got my DRO in May, but it doesnt stop some of the chancers trying to screw money out of you even though they know you have the order ...
On the whole though, it was the best move I ever made. Very simple and straigtforward and the girls at Payplan were absolutle brilliant!!

Just wondering if CCCS can help me on here

I am so gutted, was going to do a Debt Relief Order, but just found out that my pension that I started in Jan, is worth £345!!!! I honestly am so upset I don't know what to do with myself.....I just spoke to Barclays on the phone who are SO NASTY it's unbelievable:mad:, and will no accept my payments to them to pay off overdraft, despite me telling them my very difficult and personal circumstances

Would it be considered fraud to cash in my pension, throw it at my debts and then apply for a DRO? I only started my pension to try and better myself:mad:
    STARTED WITH £11,153 TOTAL DEBT
    NOW HAVE £7389.81:beer:

Had a call from Debtias (Capital one). Had to explain what a debt relief order was to her and then call the special support place they have and speak to another man who had no idea, thankfully being passed to an English lady who did - so beware and stand your ground! The first two i spoke to thought it was the same as a DMP and kept pushing for token payments.

ETA: Sygma have no idea what one is either. Ditto JD Williams

    I'm sure they'll learn!

I'm a final year full-time mature student and live with my partner. I'm seriously thinking about applying for a DRO as I have approx £11k of unsecured debt; credit cards, bank overdrafts, council tax, dwp overpayments. I have a few questions about a DRO:

    1. I'll be applying in my name but I take it our joint income will be assessed along with joint outgoings?

2 . As I receive Incapacity Credits, as a student, I get a 'special support grant'. This was not counted as income when I applied for means tested benefits such as Housing Benefit and Income Support (during the summer). Will this be counted as income when an application for a DRO is assessed?

    3. As I'm on a very specialist IT course, I have a very powerful computer. As this is a 'tool of the trade' will it be counted as an asset? Basically this is the make of break DRO question.

    4. I need broadband to connect to the University's VPN to do some work from home. Will broadband be allowed as a living expense or a necessary 'tool of the trade'?

    4. We have a shortfall between the cost of our rent and the Housing Benefit we receive, more so during term time. Will this be allowed as a legitimate living expense?

    TIA,

    - Colin

what is other expenditure? I always thought Household to be £200 for a single person, nice to know I can increase this once I start working, as well as travel.
