Can anyone tell me how to stop getting notifications for this thread? I posted on it about eight years ago and I’ve suddenly started getting constant notifications when people post on it.

Go to - your profile - click "edit profile" - a list of options appears on the left of your screen - scroll down to "notification preferences" - click on it - a number of tick box options appears - scroll down the list, tick or untick your preferences - click "save" - then exit - job done.

You say if you get through the 12 months. Nothing is likely to change. Exactly what would cause it to fail?
Any breach of the parameters for a DRO. Not many fail but the most common reason is a windfall lump sum during the 12 months.

Yeah I get that but it’s not like they spend 12 months checking up in every penny?

also I’ve just re checked credit reports and trans union still has the electricity in my wife’s name. I changed it months ago not mine. So the debt is mine but the credit file says different. Would these cause a DRO to fail when it’s submitted? Shall I change it back into her name?

Keep the electricity as it is and put it in the DRO as it's definitely one of your liabiilities - it won't cause the dro to fail but if your wife is an adult using the supply she will be jointly liable for it - in theory. In practice it might get written off. See what happens.

I mentioned a few pages back about debt advisers being under a lot of pressure, and having to watch their step - hence a lot aof very cautious decisions being made. There is a report about the current state of paly which is viewable here

    https://www.i-m-a.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/dlm_uploads/IMA-Research-Report_Workloads-and-wellbeing-in-the-money-advice-sector-October-2020-.pdf

It's fairly sobering - from the summary:

A clear level of concern about workloads was identified amongst those who participated in this research: • Two-thirds (66%) say that they regularly work over their contracted hours; • Three in five (62%) do not feel that they have sufficient time to do their work well; • Half (50%) do not feel that their workload is manageable; • More are dissatisfied (48%) than satisfied (36%) with their workload; and • Almost half (45%) struggle to achieve a work-life balance. The great majority (86%) perceive their own workload to have increased over the past five years, and seven in ten (69%) regard this increase to be ‘significant’. There are believed to be a number of contributory factors, with more vulnerable clients and complex problems, together with increased case recording requirements and targets, most frequently mentioned as ‘major reasons’. The most challenging targets and case recording requirements are associated with Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) contracts and a number of those with current or past experience of working in such positions feel that it is not feasible to fulfil both MaPS’ quality and quantity expectations within contracted hours. In addition, the Debt Adviser Peer Assessment (DAPA) process is widely perceived to be a considerable cause of work-related pressure which has reportedly affected the confidence and morale of some advisers.
  • Submitted both our DROs Monday afternoon. Step Change said 10 working days. Read before that is can be sooner. Any ideas what current timescales are like?

This all depends on when they push the button. The DRO Team are pretty reliable at two working days after that.

If they submitted it on Monday and the £90 is paid then I would have expected approval on Wednesday and on the register today. If it's not showing now, check tomorrow morning.

  • Hmm odd. Does it usually show in the register before it they send the approval emails?

Also when step change submit is it just the application of is it also all the supporting documents that go to the insolvency practitioner?

I may seem impatient but I started this before lockdown. Then left it only to pick things back up in June and it’s been 5 solid months getting to this stage. I hope it’s worth the wait!
