  • I’ve just looked at some online calculators - my student income including maintenance loan and bursary will be approx £1350 per month. Universal Credit £1000 pcm. I get child benefit of £192 pcm and child maintenance at £175 per month.

My current income is less the student stuff, £1500 UC and the same child benefit and maintenance. So I’ll be £850 up per month which is way over. Starting to think I have wasted £90.
  • I’m guessing what my rent will be as I have just been issued a section 21 and am hoping for a council house. It’s up in April but I have been advised to stay until they get a repossession order otherwise i will have made myself voluntarily homeless so the move will likely coincide with staring university and I would imagine the cost of moving / furniture maybe white goods etc will take most of that but is that counted? Sorry for all the questions, the uncertainty of the next year is killing me.

Yes the DEA would stop and on those figures she exceeds the parameters for a DRO.

The devil's in the detail here and she needs to talk it through with her intermediary.

Spoke to step change and apparently the figures on the DRO draft include this going back in and actually she’s minus £100 something before the DEA goes back in. Paid for the DROs today. Submitting on Monday.

what happens to the balances for gas and electricity (current suppliers are listed in the DRO) so any new amounts from future bills we would pay but everything to date is included in the DRO.

do the balances go to zero?

Julie - your accommodation is more important than the debts. Maybe put the DRO on hold (and get the £90 back if you like) until you know your situation will be  stable for 12 months.

Any money owing to what will be your former landlord can go in the DRO too

    Yes, balances go to zero
Is that after 12 months or when the DRO is granted? Should’ve been more specific.

You should get a new account (or subaccount) with a zero balance. The old one is written off if you get through the 12 months
  • You say if you get through the 12 months. Nothing is likely to change. Exactly what would cause it to fail?
  • Can anyone tell me how to stop getting notifications for this thread? I posted on it about eight years ago and I’ve suddenly started getting constant notifications when people post on it.

I don’t owe any rent arrears, and don’t intend to as that will again mean I have made myself voluntarily homeless. I can’t have these debts hanging over me any longer, so if there is any way I can make the DRO work I need to do it.
