This is why I said 'let us know how you get on'
The present generation of debt advisers are new to the game and under intense pressure which you can trace up the line to the Financial Conduct Authority. I thought this might be an issue.
Stay polite, quote Debt Camel (she is well respected and experienced), quote the wording on the V5 about it not being proof of ownership.
Has your intermediary seen the note from your father?0 -
Hi Thanks for the reply fatbelly. I haven't sent anything yet as wanted to make sure first. Will I have to put the car on the application or do i leave it out?0
-
I would leave it out, it’s not your car, simple as that.
In my previous post I said I had done the same thing, at the time (2015) the car I used was owned by my ex wife, I taxed and insured it, and was a named driver, but not the owner.
Stepchange did my DRO, never questioned it at the time, my application sailed through, no problem. You should do the same.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Just a quick update. Paypal woman had said they won't accept the application as they "believe the car is yours as you drive it and tax it." Step change have also stated they don't accept it as the car is registered to you. Confused now really.
Also I have found the invoice of the vehicle and although it was paid cash the dealer put it in my name. Will this be an issue?0 -
You don`t own the car, you should just have ticked the no car box and left it at that.By making enquires about it, you have alerted them to an issue, and, as you may have expected, they have responded with what they say to be correct, when it isn`t.Debt Camel cover it here -
I have a car registered in my name for insurance, but it’s owned by my mother – what will happen?
Tell your DRO Adviser but this should be fine. What matters is who owns the car, not whose name is on the insurance or the V5 registration. You will probably need to provide some proof about who bought the car.
Now since your invoice has your name on it, you are going to be unlucky i would say.

Go to CAB and start again, be more careful what you say this time.
