There are other places to seek advice on DROs other than CAB.
Try CCCS or National Debtline, be prepared for a long wait with your finger stuck on redial, but you will get through eventually. They will be able to give you all the advice you need.
Before you ring, it may be worth you having a filled in SOA to hand, that way you have a good idea yourself whether a DRO is the right thing for you. There are plenty of advice regarding SOA on various posts in the forum.

I believe that if your car is worth over £1000 be it on finance or not, you will be ineligable for a DRO. Would you be including the HP on your DRO?

Can you include outstanding finance on a car on HP? Never thought about that one, however the repayments are crippling us (at the time of purchase I had loads of overtime!) and if we default the car would be repossessed and then maybe we can add it?

Forgive me for being daft, but what is a SOA?

    Many thanks

I'm considering this dro for me and had a few questions about it, first I am unemployed with no fix abode. I sofa surf with my friends and family for the past 4 months.

I owe around £5,000 in debts, I get £257 a month from jobseekers, £100 of that I pay to my friends and family to cover food and board a month. £35 is for my contract phone which I would be adding to the dro.

The remaining £115 is pretty much gone on living for going out, clothes. Which usually leave me with nothing each month. I don't have any assects as I sold them all to survive.

My question is if I put a claim to get bank charges and ppi from those I put on the dro would that cancel it. As I don't wether to wait to claim befor I do the dro or do it now and the drp and see what happens. I'm owed back about £2,500 from my creditors. Any advice on this as I am desperate to get my debts clear, but also want to claim my charges back and not get my sister in trouble as it's care off address.
  • Ive just got the ball rolling and am waiting for my bar code to come through, but am curious as to what questions will be asked next.

My current car is worth next to nothing £300, and was purchased by my dad recently but also i had another car worth £1500 which was also purchased by my dad and was sold a few weeks ago and replaced with the cheaper car and i might add i did not benefit from the monetary difference. He too is struggling financially! Would this effect my DRO application?

Also my travel expenses petrol wise are, i think quite high, can 'they' say that its an unacceptable amount or ask me to prove it?

The whole process is stressing me out and feel like the slightest thing will have my application rejected!!!

    Any advice please........

    Hey

You may remember me asking about some help for a disabled friend of mine

Well, he has contacted CCCS and they have suggested a debt relief order, which he think sounds FAB:j

Just one question he forgot to ask them; he knows his name will go on an insolvency register BUT, will his name be printed in the newspaper like it is for bankrupsy?

    Anyone know?

Also, he has a basic bank account with Natwest; I assume he can keep this?
    STARTED WITH £11,153 TOTAL DEBT
    NOW HAVE £7389.81:beer:

    good morning

I got my debt relied order last week, but I am unsure what to do, I got the debt relief order because I owed money to bailiffs, over unpaid council Tax.

This weekend I got a letter from Bristow and sutor telling me they were going to Auction my goods, Although they have never been in my house, and the car I use isn't mine ( I sent them a copy of the registration certificate)

they seem to ignore all communication I have with them. What action do I take next, do I ring them and tell them I have a debt relief order and tell them to stop threatening me for money I don't have.

i went through bains and earsnt They were great, but they're so busy all the time getting through to some one can take days.

    any advice please.

A bit of info for anyone considering this
I originally applied for a dro with cccs the day they came out they required a credit report proof of income letter etc which took 3 months for me to acquire. I collected every piece of paper work they asked for and sent it recorded delivery. I rang them the following day to check they had recieved and after a 2 hour wait they said yes its all going through. I then get a letter from them the following week asking for up to date statements from creditors (some of them i hadnt spoke to in years) they wouldnt just accept account numbers and balances even though they had my credit report. After all this i'd had enough so i decided to go to the dark side baines & ernst. Got through first time no mention of trying to sell me iva's etc put it all through staight away over they phone. Barcoded letter coming tommorow if i pay the 90 fee tommorow which i will it should be through by wednesday! They say most of the people ringing them now are people sick of waiting for cccs. My advice would be use the cccs website to get your soa then phone b&e.
