  • Hi

I was approved for a DRO in October, however one of my creditors consistenly calls me, I have told them they should not be calling me, but they carry on. Is there anything I can do?
    Thanks

Ask the DRO Unit to remind them that they can't demand money (I asume that's what they're doing)
  • When taking finances into account for a DRO, is my student grant included?
I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

I am concerned about taking out a DRO as my wages change monthly. Some months I may have £55 surplus and the next month it could be £35. It depends as I get paid hourly. Is this taken into consideration? How strict are they on this issue? I wasn't sure if was calculated per month or as a whole over a period of say 3 months to give an accurate figure.

    Hi Everyone,
I completed my debt relief order back in November but after having checked my experian credit report a number of the debts included in the DRO still dont show as "satisfied" (one of the does but thats it!)
Does anyone know how i can get this sorted out, i have emailed insolvency service but the auto-reply said they reply withing 15 days, will they arrange the satisfaction of these outstanding balances or do i have to contact each individual creditor? (dont really want to do that lol!)

Sorry have been trawling internet for hours looking for the snwer to this but alas, no luck!

    Thanks

Contact the DRO Unit and ask them for a letter to say your DRO is satisfied and make a number of copies. Send a letter to each creditor in the first instance along with a copy of the satisfied DRO and inform them your DRO has now ended and ask them to updates their records and your credit records accordingly.

No, student loans are an excluded debt, so they have to be listed, but they do not count toward the £15k limit and they are not cleared when the order finishes

Has anyone here managed to get a loan after their DRO?

Mine finished last October. I've cleaned up my credit file.

I'm changing career which necessitates me moving to a part of the country that has very poor public transport and so I will need a car. I just want a £3k loan - are sub-prime companies like moneybarn and carfinance247 my only choice?

    Hi radio-jo

I've known people get Provident loans and Vanquis cards fairly soon after a DRO but I have to say I've been disappointed in them. And that's not going to get you 3k.

Do you need to spend 3k on a car? A friend of mine has never spent more than 1k. She budgets, saves a lump sum and then sells and buys.

I had a quick look on Autotrader around where I live and found a 2004 Astra for £875, 12 months MOT.

Can you not have a look at another strategy rather than bottom-end lenders?

I've not tried for a loan, I don't want one but within 2 months of my DRO ending my credit files were cleaned up and I was accepted for a vanquis card which I pay in full every month to help improve my credit file

OK, Caz I can see the logic of that. You clearly have your budget under control and your're not using it for high-interest credit.

You've just got to use them with care, as they bite if you don't pay them off in full each month.
