If an indiviual is married living in a mortgage property, but mortage is not in the individuals name (solely in partner's), would they qualify for a DRO?

Another question to ask is if that person has a beneficial interest in the property.

That's what i had in mind in my final sentence, IA. For DROs it's 'established' BI that counts as an asset so I was suggesting it's best to let the Intemediary look at that.
  • Im in a slight pickle. My DRO is/was due to end in weeks - less than 7 weeks!

I got myself a part time job, and the most extra income I would have made is being swallowed up by childcare costs, so I am around £20 better off than I was out of work. The dro didnt even cross my mind, until I was discussing the it with a friend saying I was almost at the end, then it occurred to me that I hadnt contacted them to tell them about the change.

I called them that day, and explained and appologised and they sent me the forms.

Im not worried about the finances side as Ive been over and over my sums, the only thing that has changed is childcare costs, and slight travel costs which wipe out most of my wages. In the long term financially this job will pay, as I can increase my hours when my little one is at school next year, and childcare costs will go down for 38 weeks of the year, for now its given me some much needed confidence and hopefully the chance to build my life up again.

The thing thats panicking me is I have gone over the 21 days, even if they go by my pay date ie the date my finances changed Im at 28 days. If they go by the date I signed the contract then Im way over.

Everywhere Ive read says the DRO can be cancelled if you dont report changes within 21 days.

Now Im seriously worried. I have been kicking myself for days, Im back to not sleeping again just feeling sick with worry exactly how I felt when I was going through the process of talking to cccs this time last year.

So I guess I just need to prepare myself for the worst, Im bracing myself for it to be revoked, but not coping with the thought of it at all. I just dont know what to do.

They're pretty good at the DRO Unit, and should be back in the office tomorrow. Can you get the forms in the post tomorrow and phone them to let them know?

They don't revoke many DROs and don't do it without warning.
  • I had a business for about 6 months during 2012 with my aunt. We had a shop, stock, etc. I am now left with about £8k in utilities, overdrafts, credit cards, etc.

I've been to Citizens Advice Bureau and I have an appointment for 9th January to hopefully get a DRO. I have all the paperwork to go through, write all my debts down, etc.

I'm 21, at Uni and I'm hoping to be a teacher, should I do it? My partner is 33 and has bad credit due to ex's taking out doorstop loans in his name. We have a house which we pay all the rent/utilities purely with his pay.

I'm just wondering how it will effect me in reality?

    Thanks!

P.S. I don't really see any other way of dealing with this debt, I have no parents/savings to bail me out and the stress of constant calling and threats is too much. I know the severity of a DRO.
  • Thank you.

I sent them back the day I got them recorded that was monday so, I guess they would have recieved them today. I was at work today, but finish early tomorrow so will call to check they recieved them.
  • I went for my appointment to get a DRO today at CAB. The lady was lovely, positive and really helpful, but was a little unsure as to how it may effect my student loans.

Currently, I am in my first year of uni, and receiving student loans (both grants, maintenance loans and tuition fee loans). As I have to tell someone that I am getting credit from, if it is over £500, I believe I have to tell SLC that I am under a DRO (when it happens). I can't imagine they'd stop the loans coming or my application for one next year as student loans can't be added to a DRO.

    Can someone confirm this?

It seems everyone is sort of telling me on hunches, or what they think might be the case.

Also, how much does student loans count against income? Technically I get £400 a month (roughly £1600 every 3 months for 9 months). But it doesn't usually last that long and goes to pay off bills/buy clothes/things we really need/books, etc. Rather than monthly.

Just need to get some balances on defaulted contracts, get my credit check back and done!

    Thanks for any help!
  • I was last year most of it off work sick.
One thing added another so have taken out several payday loans, and added intrest the total comes around 5000£+
I would like to try pay off the debits myself, on my own, but the standard loans i took out 100£ or 250£ have now been doubled or tripled with intrest.

Its on both of us, me and my partner, shes home with young child, other child goes to school.

Now i am returning to work, and am very worried about my debits.

My wage is about 1100 a month, + tax credits coming total household income around 1700£. Did the advisor thing , to balance money in - out , was left with 17£ :) .... but really think we end up at 0 every month.

By payday usually we are out of money, should we take out DRO and can we take joint DRO or we have to take seperately?

DROs are done individually so you would each need to apply, at a cost of £90 each. There is nothing in your post that would lead me to think that you would not be eligible, so have a chat with an Intermediary.
