omg that was quick, it all sounds very encouraging..when i spoke to her on the phone i told her everything and she seems to think that i will get a dro...iv got a list of all my creditors and a bank statement, iv also been to the co-op bank to open up a cashminder account (i only knew about this from reading this forum )and hopefully that should be up and running in a couple of days, im wondering iff they will tell me to start making only token payments to my creditors...obviously i dont want to do that untill my new account is set up, but the sooner the better cuz my payments are crippling me, its a case of robbing peter to pay paul so to speak x

Well i expect she will tell you just to write to them saying you are in financial trouble and you are seeking advice. That is what mine told me. She expressly said not to tell them i was going for a DRO as by the time they got the token letters chances are it would have all been sorted. She said if i did tell them they may swoop for legal action quicker then normal to get some kind of judgement against me before the DRO would be granted.

One piece of advice, when you do your final figures i would add a few hundred or so on each just to cover any interest charges that may be applied from the time you get the figures to the time your advisor puts in the application on the system. That way you should be totally covered. if you give them a figure that is less then the total amount on the day you can be held liable for whatever those amounts are.

DRO hurdle ~ What's the next stepping stone towards being a debt free wannabe ?

 :whistle:Ok at the moment I am nervously waiting for a call to tell me my Debt Releif Order has been approved or not. Mine was submitted yesterday and hubbys is being put through today hopefully.

I hate making assumptions as thats the time usually all goes wrong.

But say for example it was successful and I was given a much needed break. Well bearing in mind any rules and regulations we must work by for the next 12 - 18 months.

What's the next stepping stone towards being a debt free wannabe ?

Thanks all and thanks to MSE, NDL and all you supportive forum members who have got us this far. Whatever happens I (we to include hubby) will get there someday !
Failure is only someone elses judgement.
Without change there would be no butterflies.
If its important to you, you'll find a way - if not, you'll find an excuse ! ~ Easy to say when you take money out of the equation!

Not sure i understand your question as when the DRO ends you will be debt free. I think the general advice is to get a new copy of your credit report and make sure the debts have actually been written off. If not i think you have to write to either the insolvency service or the creditor and remind them the DRO has ended and you are not now liable for the debts.

Wait for Fatbelly, Immoral or wba31 to come along and they should be able to go into this further.

Orville is spot on! When your 12 month moratorium period ends, the debt included in the order is written off, and you are debt free. As Orville said, get a copy of your credit report after that date to check all has gone through properly. If your order is approved today, your end date will be 24 March 2012.

    Hi.

Told you it would be ok.:D

I think you have to pay the £90 over the counter at a post office via a barcode that your given, i think it was as the cab probably dosen't deal in cash or have a card terminal.
