    Correct!

I did spot Gooday's post - honestly, the best course of action would be to get an appointment with an intermediary and chat things through.

We're not suposed to post the trigger figures but I think Fermi was naughty and did so earlier in this thread!
Ferms is an entity unto himself :D
    Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
    Que sera, sera. <3
  • Thank you every one for your responses, I am still reading a page at a time and I definitely intend to contact an intermediatory soon. Im looking through the national debtline website and everything seems, pretty clear, I fit the bill. So I'll continue educating myself and post any questions I may have.

Thank you once again everyone and I hope this will be over for me one day.
  • Does anyone know if the DRO system is back up and running now? I have now been waiting 3 weeks for CAB to process my DRO. I keep being told the system is down, and that it will be processed as soon as it is up and running.

I have had to apply for a budgeting loan with the job centre.. and it would be helpful if the DRO went through BEFORE the loan was processed and paid.. as I am worried it may mess up my DRO going through. I cannot even get hold of my advisor to tell him I have now applied for this.

I am dreading it either not going through from all this waiting or something going wrong. I applied in Feb so am a bit dissapointed that I am still waiting :(

    Hey don't panic...!!

Remember that while you are under a DRO you can still get a loan. Just as long as it's not over £499.99 and you are still within the £50 threshold you do not have to inform them.

As far as i know the system was sorted a while ago, but Fat or Immoral will know for sure. Why don't you ring a different CAB and just ask them the question..? It seems very strange to me they are taking this long.
  • Everytime I ring I get told they will ring back. Then either no one does or its the receptionist to tell me the DRO system is still down.
499.99? I have stated on my application I am applying for £500 and cant have a penny more :s

I am more worried that the DRO will be processed and the loan will show on it, which may then cause problems. Am I worrying for nothing?

I can't say for sure Single, but think of it this way. if they know what loans you have already then there would be no need to list your debts as part of the application so i'd rest easy on that one.

As for the £500 i wouldn't worry, but i did ring myself to just make sure and she did say that technically you can borrow a max of £499.99 as it does say on the DRO for £500 or more.

No cancelling direct debits will not affect a dro application. I was told by my advisor at the CAB when she recommended a DRO to stop paying my debts. She did however say not to inform ANY of my creditors i was going for a DRO as they might act quicker to get you into court to recover some money.

Are you totally sure you fit the criteria for a DRO..? It's not worth your while stopping payments if you don't.

if you can't pay sky or other debts you might aswell cancell the DD anyway as you will only incur more charges. What i would do in the meantime is get the standard template letter from this website and write to ALL of your creditors saying you are seeking financial advice and wish to make token payments.

I'll try to find the letter and post a link back.

As it stands are you saying that AFTER you pay your debts you only have £20 per fortnight so say roughly £40 a month left over..?
