    Hi Bosie

Might be worth having a look on this thread which explains DROs - Debt Relief Orders - Information & help.
Has the daughter sought any financial advice from one of the debt advice charities yet? If not then that would be a good place for her to start - IMPORTANT - Where to seek professional impartial advice about your debts. and they will advise if a DRO is most suitable for her and whether she would be eligible.

Hi,she has tried to contact the CAB but the phone just rings out, so I said the CCCS, the problem is causing problems within the home.
For instance she has had to pawn things to pay her debtors, so it's quite serious. Plus she pawned a family members item, which caused so much trouble.
Just wanted to know would a single parent living at home have similar figures to a single parent in her own place?

Probably not i'd say, someone living at home would probably not pay the full amount of all the utility bills etc, maybe spend less on food too....

Exactly, no rent, council tax, water, gas elec etc would be allowed. Just personal bills and an amount for board but she would be able to have some housekeeping to pay for her own food/toiletries etc unless included in what she pays in board..

    Immoral just a quickie.

I am thinking of getting a budgeting loan. I'm looking to move away next year so will need help with removal expenses and maybe put a bit twoards the deposit. I'd also get my son some new clothes. Am i right in thinking that while under a DRO i can have more then £500 as long as i tell them i am in a DRO.

I am thinking of putting a note in http://www.dwp.gov.uk/advisers/claimforms/sf500_print.pdf

Part 8 (other information) just saying i am currently under the terms of a DRO.

Do you think that would suffice..? Do i infact have to tell them as it's a goverment loan i would be getting that's paid straight back out of my weekly benefits..?.

That's right, you can't get any credit over £500 without informing the creditor. However, instead of getting a budgetting loan, why not enquire into whether you council have any rental deposit schemes etc, or if there are certain circumstances meaning that you have to move then you *may* be able to get charitable grants to help with moving costs..

I have thought about rental deposit schemes and will enquire about this a bit nearer to the time.:D

Also worth speaking to your local council's housing options team, if you go to your local CAB as they may be able to make you a referral.

  • hi. i just wondered if anyone else knew about the change to DRO's to allow pension holders? i have seen it here- http://money.uk.msn.com/news/money-news/articles.aspx?cp-documentid=155206974
if anyone knows anymore about this, and if its definitely happenin, id love to know? I dont want to get my hopes up and then it never happens because thats pretty much what happened this year

also another question... i am a student and i have a £1000 interest free overdraft that i'm always in my limit of, and its with santander who are my main bank account (the one that i dont owe anything to) would this HAVE to be included in my DRO? because i'm quite comfortable with it and its interest free. abbey national are well aware of my situation with money and were still happy to give me the overdraft?
also does anyone know anything about shares? my dad used to give me money for the share scheme where i used to work. so they are in my name but they are his, would they ask about shares for the DRO?
    thanks for any advice :)
