any idea how the limits will change and when?

The consultation for pension changes is open until 23rd June.

My ETA for any changes is April 2011.

Experian are taking around 4 weeks at present and the Insolvency Service are approving Orders in around 24 hours!
Experian varies.. only 2 weeks ago I had an experian report come back within a week of sending it off, whereas another I sent a day earlier still hasn't arrived...

what happens to your credit report once you reach your end date? Does everything get 'settled'? what needs cleaning up?

I have defaults/accounts closed were dated after my DRO started, actually most of mine were placed in September 2009 one Jan 2010
Anything that was included in the DRO will be written off after the 12 month moratorium period. I'm not sure how that would be shown on a credit file though.

  • Well DRO paid and the bloke said it should all be sorted within the week. Strange thing is I thought I’d feel more relieved rather than guilty

I'm sure I've read something about this somewhere but can't find it now...
I'm waiting to make the application for DRO (been 14 weeks waiting with CCCS now, must be someday soon!)
My 3 year old son is currently being assessed as he has special needs - I have been told that I may be able to apply for Disability Living Allowance for him and receive the Disability element in Child Tax Credits for him. Are these counted as income in a DRO? Asking because Housing Benefit disregard this as income so wanted to check. If so, I will have to make new income/expenditure and send in proofs, no doubt my DRO application will be put back a few more weeks which will be very frustrating...

Sarah I've been told the DLA is counted as income BUT can be taken back out as "health costs" so isnt really counted if you see what I mean and tbh unless you are very lucky the DLA claim will take ages so I would just go ahead and tell them about the change when it actually happens
Happy with any wins this year :A

    Hi ,

First of all what a great help this thread is :)

I am new here after being shoved in this direction , mate says its a great site and seems it , :) for details on a dro which I think I need , basicly I am now on JSA after 30 years of work but with no savings left now , and have been on jsa for 10 months and unable to pay credit cards any longer after juggling for a few months not going out , using gas / eating basics etc hoping things pick up , but Im still unable to find full time work.

Its looking like I have to sort something out and someone suggested a dro

I owe about £6,000 all told , Id rather have been able to pay a small amount to these people but the phone calls are endless and I just cannot afford the basics waiting around for things to improve as I have been seems to be getting me knowhere and I have no savings left .

Anyway basically what Im asking here is what are the amounts that you can list as living allowance , to meet this £50 disposable per month ?

If only these collection companies etc would take small payments whilst people are going through bad patches it would save some of us having to seek other ways , Ive never been in this situation in 30 yrs before , Ive struggled many times but it seems that there is no room for movement with these companies , fed up of the nasty calls / demands even though Ive hardly left the house for months to make sure that they got paid till it was no longer possible :(

Anyway Ive tried to find details I need from thread but having problems , any link for a typical claim etc that gives some idea of what you can put as living expenses / basics ?
  • can I also ask... I have read they ask for 3 months bank statements to apply for the DRO. can I ask what they are looking for from these statements? I have been a bit silly by getting into bill arrears but buying take out or spending on ebay (mainly baby items with me being pregnant) but will this effect my application? or is it just to show I have been on benefits?

also i have applied for an open uni course which i was told wouldnt effect anything but open uni have now said they pay a £289 grant towards book expenses etc. am i better telling them i do not want them to pay me this? thanks.

If you're on JSA this is unlikely to be a problem. Be guided by your Approved Intermediary on exactly how they will present your figures

    Correct!

If you're using the CAB and being seen by someone on a Legal Services Contract, they have to verify your income. Bank statements are sometimes the easiest way to do that.

Could they pay in two instalments? You may be OK with it anyway. You should not have more than £300 in your bank account as unallocated capital when you make the application (Money reserved for a rent payment or similar is OK) as this counts to your assets limit of £300.
  • Im unsure, I am still waiting for CAB to get back to me about the maternity grant. Its a grant a seriously need for baby but if it means I cant apply for the DRO then i will have to not apply for it and struggle even more.
