can I also ask... I have read they ask for 3 months bank statements to apply for the DRO. can I ask what they are looking for from these statements? I have been a bit silly by getting into bill arrears but buying take out or spending on ebay (mainly baby items with me being pregnant) but will this effect my application? or is it just to show I have been on benefits?

also i have applied for an open uni course which i was told wouldnt effect anything but open uni have now said they pay a £289 grant towards book expenses etc. am i better telling them i do not want them to pay me this? thanks.
A course grant is paid for study materials so won't be classed as an asset as far as I'm aware.
The bank statements could be to show your regular bill amounts to put on the financial statement.

Sarah I've been told the DLA is counted as income BUT can be taken back out as "health costs" so isnt really counted if you see what I mean and tbh unless you are very lucky the DLA claim will take ages so I would just go ahead and tell them about the change when it actually happens

Thanks Michelle. I have another query if anyone can help - as it is the new tax year, will I be required to send in my new Child Tax Credit form as the one the CCCS have is from the last tax year now - or would I only need to send it in if there are changes to it?
    Thanks

Spoke to CCCS again today to give them more detail into my debt. They've advised me to go for the DRO so I'll be receiving my application form through with in a matter of days now.
I was wondering something tho, because my new partner is expecting my child in August, we were wanting to get married just before. Only a registry office job and a drink afterwards, no big expense or anything.

Now will this affect my DRO arrangement? as the lady I spoke to today said that the arrangment will take place and not be affected as long as my circumstances don't change. I mean if were married is that taken into account as my partner has a mortgage and assets.

    Cheers Mark

    Hi there

I am just wondering...i honestly have no idea where my pension is (stupid as it sounds) but I think it is about £340 value (my work place has closed down and I have no paperwork or anything:o)

If I apply for a DRO, would this be a massive no? I mean, if I don't know where my pension is, how would they find it and also, if the rules are going to change, then would this be ok?

I am tempted to go ahead with it and end my misery

    I owe about £7k
    STARTED WITH £11,153 TOTAL DEBT
    NOW HAVE £7389.81:beer:

Had a letter back from the council's bailiffs today refusing the token payment and asking for the original £141 a month which I can't afford. I had copied the council into the last letter but nothing back from them as yet.

Bailiffs threatening to get a van round (at my expense of £110) and remove my goods for sale at auction.:(

Really will be glad to get this sorted once and for all.:(

If you have a pension you're not currently receiving then at the moment a DRO would not be granted. If you went for one it would be rejected and you wouldn't get your £90 back. Yes they're looking into allowing a small pension but currently this is not confirmed and is just in the 'talks' stage so don't rely on it changing in the very near future. At the earliest I'd imagine it would be next year that anything would change...

A DRO is individual so would be baed on your cicumstances only, however if you live together they would expect that the financial statement reflect this, either by your partner having a contribution to household bills, or including his income and all bills.

  • Another quickie... does that mean with me going for a DRO that I am to totally rule out living with a partner? As atm I am on income support but if I were to live with a partner I am guessing he would have more than £50 and so would I because he would be helping with the bills?

No neccesarily know. It really depends on how you split your bills, what contributions (if any) that he makes, what you contribute towards the bills etc..

I'll do some examples... 2 secs.

Examples of different ways of doing a financial statement..

If you live alone on income support...

If you lived with partner (Depending on his work/circumstances) your IS would stop so there's 2 ways of working it if you were still out of work.

    - Using partner's full wage
    workfs.png

    - Using a 'contribution' from your partner (ie he gives you money and then you do what you like with it, including if you wanted to help pay bills)

are in mind I'm still half asleep so those are just very rough examples of how it can be done, there's other ways of doing it but it's very very difficult to do it accurately and know the best way for you to do it without knowing your exact circumstances. Those were just really to show that it can be done depending on how you work the figures and what your circumstances are.

Edit: Just noticed I've got housekeeping twice on the top 2... told you I was half asleep. :rotfl:
