  • DRO update: Received application to sign and barcode to pay £90 in post today. Signed and sent back off, and paid money at post office. Phoned National Debtline to inform them I have paid. They will phone me when signed application arrives, to get up to date figures of my debts, and then they will process it, so fingers crossed by the end of next week, I will have been accepted. I may even be able to answer the phone again!!!

  • thanks, and thank you for all the good advice I have received on this board, which has helped me get to this point.
  • Thanks for sharing your experience Christine, I'm following your progress as I'm sure many others are too, and it'd be great to know how things go. I'm hoping to apply soon, and reading about others progress on here is really useful. Good luck.
  • DRO update: National Debtline phoned. They received my signed application, and have received my £90 payment. I updated her with my latest credit card amounts - I have been checking them everyday online, so I was prepared for this moment! She will submit my application online today, and then she will get an email either tomorrow or Wednesday advising her of whether or not I am successful. She cannot see any problems, as it looks fairly straight forward. She will phone me as soon as she has heard, to put me out of my misery. Then, If Im successful I will get the official paperwork in the post within a week. I am so nervous, yet excited at the same time x
  • DRO update: National Debt line just phoned and informed that they have received email from insolvency unit, confirming that my DRO has been approved :j
I will receive all my paper work back soon, and an official document from insolvency unit confirming this.

I can thoroughly recommend National Debtline to anyone needing help and/or considering DRO. As long as you have all your facts and figures, they make it very easy for you. The worst part was the 8 week wait to process the application. However I was told it would take that long at the start. Once the application started to be processed it took under a week from start to finish.

I advise that anyone considering a DRO start to apply as soon as they can: As waiting lists are so long, you could go over the £15,000 limit in charges etc, if you are already very close to the limit, in the waiting time, and then you wouldnt be able to apply for a DRO.

As for me, I may have no money, but hey, I also have no debts, and thats how I intend to go on.

And once again, a BIG THANKYOU to everyone that has guided me and given me advice throughout this process. :T

Congrats christine :) Make sure you keep a copy of the DRO in case any of the creditors included on it continue to contact you, as you may need to send them a copy :)

  • Can anyone help, I am wanting to apply for this as adviced by CAB with all debts in my name but some are joint with my ex and they have said rather than half of it be wiped off they will just remove my name so that the debt solely lies with the ex. My problem is from the marriage we had alot of debt in both names or joint... and we wanted to split them down the middle... but most seem to be in his name. Is it possible for me to somehow change certain debts into my name so I can take those on? As he does not want to go down this route as it isnt the right choice for him. Can anyone help?

Are you divorced? If so were the debts dealt with by the court?
