  • Has anybody tried downsizing early the patches to the day time one only?

I just stopped putting them on after one week! I felt under control with the habit side of things and just thought to hell with it, I don't need this addiction. 3 months later I am still smoke free! If you feel strong enough it may be worth going without if the side effects are worse than the non-smoking!

    hi everyone!!

i havent posted on this in ages - i really thought i would need to look on this thread everyday in order to keep going with the quitting smoking, but TBH i havent thought about it much at all!! :j

today is my one month anniversary :D :j  - i honestly cant believe its been a month already!! i had decided to allow myself a month to be obsessed with not smoking and allow myself to think about it all the time, but over the last couple of weeks i havent thought about it at all really!!

i had some temptation when i was out for my work leaving do and i spotted a cigarette machine, and also when i was moving house there was a couple of occasions when i sat down for a break from cleaning / unpacking, and thought how it would be nice to have a cig now, but TBH it was more routine than craving!!

im starting my new job tomorrow and it'll be the first place ive ever worked in where i'll be a non-smoker, so im excited about having that fresh start.

all the best of luck to everyone who has managed to quit for the same time as me or longer, and to the newbies who are on their first days of quitting - keep going, no matter how hard it seems - before you know it you'll be celebrating your month anniversary too and will hardly be thinking about cigarettes!! i really didnt think that a month could make such a difference to how i feel about them, so at least you all know that it wont take years to get over the cravings and constantly thinking about cigarettes.

ive savid over £60 so far (though i dont know where its went as im skint!! ) and i think downloading the silkquitmeter was one of the greatest helps to me quitting smoking as its solid evidence of how im saving money and my health!!

lots of luck to you all!! :D

Schmickleiklepickle, Daleigha and Kizzyanne, congratulations on getting so far, and thanks for sharing, it certainly makes me feel better, especially to know that this constant thinking about not smoking will go away!

Lou, well done!! I was totally over-emotional last night like you wouldn't believe. I had put it down to TOTM but I'm wondering if this is more to do with nicotine withdrawal since you seem to have been affected on days 2 as well..... can anyone shed any light on this and how long it might last??

What a great deal of happiness at having quit on here yesterday, well done ALL, you're doing marvellously and have so very much to be proud of!

So many folk detest the bad dreams that patches give them adarynefoedd, I suggest you listen to all that's been said from skr80, Aeshna and schmickle. We all need decent sleep, so go with their advice and I hope you're soon feeling much better!

Not an easy time Aeshna, but you sounded a little better yesterday and you had coped! I hope it stays that way for you. I'll bet when your boss came back in she stank of dirty, smelly old smoke yes??! I'm wonder if the struggle is worse in the evening because of you being more relaxed perhaps. If so find something to do while you're sat, crossword, something you enjoy or just playing with a pen or something similar. The extra emotions could well be due to saying goodbye to that horrible friend you're blessed with seeing the back of!!! Keep strong ...keep it up!

Congratulations on 3 months of being smoke free schmickle! You've really done brilliantly!!!:T Keep going this well and you'll soon be through the worst of it all and have quit for good!:j

Another one sounding do thrilled to have all that smoke behind her then daleigha!!! :T You too have done amazingly well, even coping with the work's leaving do that had bothered you a bit. It just goes to show how quickly some of us get through it. Keep it up and I can just see you gliding down the aisle thrilled to have finished with them before starting married life!:D

22 days smoke free for you then Kizzyanne!!!! :T It's so good to have you come back and tell us how far you've got, so good to see you're feeling the benefits of living a far healthier lifestyle once more too! Keep up the resolve and never look back and keep remembering the pride you have in you now!!! :j

Hi Lou, it's so good to hear that you've made it to day 2 so very well, though I'm sure the very emotional and tearful feelings of you and Aeshna are all due to the finale "letting go" of the last of the cigs, even if it wasn't hard to do it's still been a long time with them as crutches. Keep looking forward now as you've done extremely well all things considered. I hope you're feeling delighted with yourself!!!

Keep up the wonderful positive feelings of yesterday everyone, you're ALL doing just great and your pride should be overflowing!!!!!

the patches kept me awake!! I stopped on 12/1/09, and stopped taking the patches 4 days ago. I stepped down to 7mg patch (cutting the 14 ones in half) for a week, the from last thursday evening nothing at all - what strength patches are you using?

21mg but last night I cut one in half did not wear it all night result better sleep and the half patch also feels better.

Day 16 for me :D I've felt rather cross at times & so I've sniffed my roll up tin, I didn't smoke as I didn't like the smell - that's a good sign innit? ;)

    Well done everyone!

I really thought the first couple of days would be the worst, but if anything I'm struggling more today than on day one. I've taken up knitting to keep my hands busy in the evening, so I'm churning out scarves like there's not tomorrow!!!! Ah well, I haven't given in, just wanted to vent lol. Sitting at 3 days, 20 hours, 30 minutes and I feel grumpy as hell!!

Aeshna, I'll put an order for next Christmas' scarves now then? ;) It does get easier.

I'm on day 17 and feeling ok at the moment although I was grumpy with DH yesterday although this could be TOTM creeping up on me  It could also be because I am stuck in the house with a three year old who is going stir crazy and definitely missing nursery school :D

One thing I have REALLY noticed and especially over the last couple of days is my clean laundry and how nice it smells. I kept sniffing my pj's last night as they were so nice :D

What else has everyone else noticed?
