Evening all - still a non smoker here
I've clear out a couple bags of books and clothes to go to the charity shops tomorrow and am currently painting my nails bright pink (nice smilely colour).
DH commented earlier that my perfume smelt nice. Just think, a couple of days ago it would of been eau de fags.
Keep busy and good luck, Pen xThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
I'm also flicking through one of my old Trinny and Susannah books. Now that I'm not stuck outside with a cancer stick in hand half the evening I think I'm going to do a complete image and wardrobe overhaul. Might help keep me away from the choccie biscuits too. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -

Thank you so much for those links, I really like the one titled 'Just one puff' could they be put on here as I found them really useful and wondered if someone else might?
Hope everyone is coping well with their quitting and a BIG thank you to all those who have quit and are giving up their time to help us with our journey to a better life. :T xx

determined_new_ms wrote:princess I'm sorry that day 1 was so sucky for you, hopefully you managed to stay strong tho? We're giving up exactly at the same time so maybe we could be quit buddies? we can give each other a moral boost when we feel we are slipping?) I truely hope today will be better for you. I'm planning to go to the gym and do some serious exercise, clean my car thoroughly so I don't have to smell stale fags on the 40mins drive to work tomorrow, drink plenty of water today and maybe print off some crosswords for the boredom later???? Stay strong with me!
I also want to apologise for being so self absorbed - but I can't seem to help it I'm all about my wants and needs right nowmy poor oh is ill in bed and yesterday I didnt even give him a second thought
:o:o
Hi there, determined new ms, very, very well done for how positive you're being, that was a marvellous post and even offering a helpful hand to another fellow quitter, I sincerely hope she takes you up on your offer. It helps so much if 2 or more are going through the same thing. The other part I quoted is about all you have planned with the gym and "a serious work-out" as well as drinking water...cleaning out your car...doing crosswords etc - all these things are so very beneficial at a time such as this. You're so much to hold your head up and feel so proud about, you're a credit to yourself DNMS, truly you are!!! :T
Now you tell me what's selfish about all that?? If you're to stay true to your desire to Quit then, to a degree, you have to remain focused which will be making you inward thinking - but there's nothing wrong with it, nothing at all, so don't be feeling guilty again! Do check you husband asap though......he has a pulse - yes???!!!BTW, I stick to helping others because I desperately wanted to quit as I was terrifying myself with "what if I don't" thoughts and just knew then and know now that there must be more out there like me, and from some of the posts I see on this thread, I know I'm right. Aside from that, I love seeing people free themselves from the evil chains nicotine has the ability to keep us in IF we allow it!!! Keep going forward, DNMS and stay as positive as you've been in this post and you'll be soon be soooo proud of yourself!!!
A better day, jinty?? It sounds as though it could be. Good work with the gum, though if your tongue's getting sore try a few sweets today for a change. Keep day-dreaming about paying off that money and the pleasure you'll have on the holidays you're looking forward to taking when you can afford it. The mind's an amazing tool, jinty, use it - especially now - and - be so very proud all what you've achieved so far, you deserve it!
Az, you too are doing wonderfully and should be thrilled at your new life. However, just one thing to try to alter and that's your concerns about going back to work and how to cope with the 'times' that you've been used to. Alter your mornings around differently; different drinks...doing other things in pace of 'awkward times'. Clean your teeth...again! Think of the the things you're gaining at such times...list them all in your head, it detracts from other thoughts. Having a shower at a different time....take the dog for a longer walk....have breakfast - God knows - you NEED feeding! There are other things you can do at awkward times and you'll soon fall into a different way of life - which is what you're aiming for! Onward Az!
Hi penelope, the lady who says very little because she's way too focused on the job in hand!!It's so good to see you sticking to your guns..hell bent on getting through this no matter what. Again...so very much to feel so proud of, keep that resolve, penelope and get through this!
Keep looking for those jobs around the house, I used to find that brilliant therapy - even when it didn't need it!
Aha, there you are hattiefats, good to see you also remaining focused and strong - so very active too!!! :j Another one who's a whole 3 days free now, well done hattie!! Keep sticking to your memories about fags making you stressed, it's so true! So focus on that more than the worrying that it might not affecting you - and IF you should get stressed through work, just keep in mind how much more so you'd be if you'd been smoking. You're no longer thinking "your weak" as to get to 3 days free from fags takes great strength and you have it!
Hattie talking of Paul Mckenna's quitting ideas, everyone, reminds me of his tapping technique: For those who haven't heard of it, tap it into google, you'll soon find it - demonstrations of it on YouTube too from what I remember a little while ago.
How wonderful 2011 is looking like being for those who really do stay strong and positive. You're all doing marvellously and it's so good to feel the terrific vibes coming from the thread. Stick at it everyone, you all deserve to FREE yourself from this evil, disgusting thing called nicotine...it doesn't deserve a place in your lives!!

yay smely (:rotfl:ha ha ha! loving ur addi) happy you've decided to be smoke free too :j I'm just a newbie myself so can't offer much advice atm, Sue sent me a lovely pm with lots of advice & tips, ppl on the tread have been very supportive.
for me I've gone cold turkey and it is both very easy & also difficult if that makes sense. I have had no urge to actually smoke, although have had a weird restless, empty/needy feeling, but day 2 has been better than day 1 - have been able to have thoughts (albeit limited) that haven't been about smoking today
.
Best thing has been to keep busy and when I've had cravings remember they pass, that's one less I have to deal with & sip some water.
Good luck xDF as at 30/12/16

Another example of 'our' wonderful Sue (even if she does feel she'd rather avoid me)
After quitting for 12 years, most people wouldn't be at all bothered about other people giving up, but Sue's always here with the most wonderful advice/support/compassion.
Thanks! :A
