Hi slugger and a very warm welcome to our help thread. I hope you've found the PM I've sent, it has some helpful bits and pieces to help you see it all through.
ALL of us here will be urging you on and wishing you the very best to do what you've probably wanted to do for soooo long. Most of us get on alright after the intitial first few days, some finding it far easier than ever they'd thought possible; I do hope you'll find it that way. However, on this thread we talk to each other, telling the others exactly how we feel, how our day has been, be it good or bad. Then listening to the replies of others, how they're all coping and what gives them the strength to continue.
I know you're using 25mg Invisi patches and 2mg gum, but if there's anything that crosses your mind which just might give you a buzz and help you through it more easily...try it out! Just never, ever be tempted to have "just one puff or just one fag" as it never works! One of our very successful members attributed her success to eating/sucking Ice Poles... and it's since worked for others too!
If you're a little anxious for now then why not read through some of the thread, you'll no doubt find some very helpful posts here. You'll also find many posts from excited members at their joy of having quit!!Stick with us slogger as we'd all loce to help you to your goal of having QUIT smoking for good. For now, look ahead from tomorrow as you begin life as a non-smoker!:)
I wish you all that you'll be wishing for yourself.....,we ALL will!

Hi Slugger,
Welcome to the thread and the very best of luck to you. Just keep posting whenever you feel like it. There are so many of us have been where you were not so long ago.
I was a many time quitter and wasted a lot of time faffing about with nicotine but I made it in the end with the help of this thread, the wonderful Sue and there are lots of more recent quitters who come in from time to time to keep us up to date. They are a real inspiration.
Anyway, you will be fine and well, tomorrow will be one of the most wonderful days of your life. A day when you take the first step to get rid of a terrible Albatross around your neck.

Well off the mark today, It hasn't been anywhere near as bad as expected, I haven't thought to myself "Oh I'd love a fag" its more just smoking like after a meal etc that puts the idea in my head but I don't want one as such, its just a memory of how things used to be. I have had a few side effects from either the patches or gum, I have been in a cold sweat all day and have had a headache, not a pounding headache more just an annoying one, but I don't know if I can blame these on the NRT at all as I am just getting over a sinus infection. But I wonder does it get harder than this? Or is this as bad as it gets?0

Excellent news slugger!
Well, that is one whole day completed and very well done you! I have to confess to not knowing anything about the Invisi patches you're using, so I don't know what the side-effects are, but if it gives headaches on the list then, like as not it could be them as well as the sinus problems that are causing it. Still, it sounds as though it's not too bad for you to cope with.
With regards to your question about "does it get harder than this", it's an impossible one to answer as it's too early, but could I be correct in thinking you could be a male? If so, then men very often do find it easier than women, the lack of so many hormone troubles I'm sure, typical!Just be aware of not getting too complacent as some folk start off extremely well only to have a few hiccups a few days later. However, that isn't to say it'll affect you that way so play it by ear taking it all a day at a time...and patting yourself on the back for every day's success.
I have to admit that having had a sinus infection is the perfect time to kick-start quitting and that's usually what happens to most of us to push us back into a far healthier lifestyle. Re the after meals slight cravings, do something like...washing up (!!) or going for a walk to take it off for you. All the best for a good 2nd day!

Hey all.
Sue the management of my money and getting things back on track has been greatly helped by giving up smoking.
Amount of times in the first few months when I was thinking I would be struggling to get through to the end of the month then you start to realise I would have struggled if I was paying for the fags. I'll be a very happy bunny once not only am I free of the smoking that doing so has helped me regain financial freedom. I even have saving again nowadays!!!Smoke free since November 2009.

I havent posted for ages because of one thing or another.
I seem to do really well for three days, then BAM something just unravels itself in my head and I start again, but the last time it happened I was bemoaning the weight gain, and missing my coffee (think that might be another addiction to be honest) so I was smoking for the day and ended up with a chest infection and put on steroids, so guess what.....weight gain!!
I am still really determined to do this, as this time the moment I started taking the tablets I could feel a difference, I should be over this infection in 7/10 days opposed to the usual 6 week malarky.
I went to the south of France for a weekend and was really proud of myself, sitting outside in the sun at a cafe, everyone seems to smoke in France, but I did resist the temptation all weekend was really a hard thing to do, I know I only did so well because my partner was with me and he hates smoking so I have always been very conscientious of the fact when I am around him, but he is very understanding and has bought me some patches and some little tablets by nicorrette, they do help.Ebay 13........1583.46/2000.00 Amazon sales 54/50 Etsy sales 63/50

End of day 2 for me and still off the weed, Today has gotten tougher to be honest, I started off today fine and now well I'm not climbing the walls but I think I'm heading that direction. Oddly I have noticed its at home I have the most problems where as I thought it would be at work as I used to enjoy going for a wee smoke break to kill the monotony. One thing I did notice today was my breathing seemed alot better, I have asthma caused by the smoking but today it was like breathing in HD it was great and I have been sucking at mints and that just makes it even better
However like 415SanFran day 3 seems to be my falling point
