Dazco - I started on the Champix & had to stop taking it after a few weeks, but I'm still stopped so all the best.
I think if I can stop any one can but this forum is brilliant for the chat & support.0 -
Shel I do think it can be a bit of a novelty when you first stop smoking.
Maybe a week or so later (different for everyone), you can get this feeling of "OK so I have stopped smoking and nothing is really happening - is it worth depriving myself of my crutch". You forget the vileness and smell.
I think this is a dangerous time because very often nicotine (or our addict -whatever you deem it) starts whispering for us to not put ourselves through this. It then starts to glamorise smoking. Every film you watch will have someone lighting up, exhaling and looking dare I say it, cool!
Total lie of course, but it can happen.
This time was where I reminded myself just how hard it was to enjoy a cigarette in peace anymore. Standing outside your own house at the dead of night, worrying the neighbours will think you are an intruder, or even crazier under an umbrella in the pouring rain!
Well it aint like the films for sure!
You sound really well prepared for whatever tricks your mind may have up it's sleeve. You are doing so well.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Yes, it does feel like it's going to come crashing down on me:eek: I'm really, hoping I won't fall for the 'I'll just have one' palavar. I saw this today on the Allen Carr facebook page:DSomeone on here a while ago was asking what side effects they might expect from Chimpax.:rotfl:

Hello, nice to see some more people joining us.
daz, did you smoke all 80 yesterday?:rotfl::rotfl:;)
I'm having my first 'proper' craving of the day just now so the lolly is in:D Cigarettes have been on my mind pretty much constantly since starting to stop on Tuesday. Third day in and I haven't caved so I'm quite pleased about that. I'm almost doing a bit *too well* atm and have a feeling it will hit me more when I return to work on Monday and will want one as soon as I get home. Deep breaths:cool:
You are doing well Shel, keep it up :T:T:TS!!!!horpe0 -
Sooooo, Day Four and I still haven't had one:T:T:T:T
I've noticed that I've started to get hungry earlier in the day than I used to. On Mon/Tues it was 11am before I ate anything. This morning I had toast as soon as I returned from dropping my dd off at school so just after 9.:dance:Mash p'tater, mash p'tater:dance:0 -

My nurse (how old and posh does that make me sound) said that us ex-smokers start eating more because the food tastes better.
Well if toast starts tasting any better I will have a problem :rotfl:S!!!!horpe0 -
Hi Pixie and welcome.
I found the Allen Carr book very helpful. I had actually stopped for about three days when it arrived, but it really helped to seal my determination to get nicotine out of my life, once and for all.
Just remember when things get tough, that a lot of us have gone through those difficult few days and possibly a month or so, but in the end you come out the other side and is it very worth it to be able to live your life, free of that nagging nicotine.
All the best.
Thanks again for your support - you're all so sweetI started the book today and will continue to read it over the weekend before I stop on Monday.

Goodness aren't we all doing well:j Thanks, Sue UU for the PM with all the tips, trying to follow them all, so it won't give me time to think about ciggies! Suffering from the vivid dreams (am on patches) but small price to pay for being able to go upstairs without gasping and reaching for inhaler. Yes, I'm asthmatic as well, which makes smoking even more of a stupid thing to do, just shows what an addiction it can be. I decided to stop when DS asked me if I wanted to see my grandchildren (6 and 4) grow up...
Have found nice little gizmo on iGoogle which counts days/hours/mins smoke free and tells you how much you've saved - nice to see both counters going up! Noted that asda pharmacies have patches at half price at the moment, if any of you buying your own rather than on prescription. My asda sold out, so we're not alone in this struggle;)
Be back soon, gotta go and nag OH to stop:rotfl:
I know this is trawling back a bit and I'm not sure if Jayess is still around, but does anyone know what this iGoogle thingie is please? I want a counter but don't want to have to download anything like SilkQuit onto my work pc.

Hello Thrifty Pixie - could this be what you are looking for?
http://www.quitsmokingcounter.com/your-quit-smoking-counter/
You mentioned that you would be using patches etc - the producers have online programmes with very good support, text messages and counters. I found Activestop to be the best.
Best wishes for Monday :T:TI am a non-smoker :j last cigarette 10th February 20100
