Fell off the wagon big time (since Monday).

I'll be jumping back on it tomorrow, I know where the inhalators live and I'm not afraid to use it!

    Hi all,

I wanted to join this here thread so that I've made a public vow to stick to, and to just generally join in with the big, snuggly support pile you got going here (sorry for the allusion but I watched 'Where the Wild Things Are' the other day).

And so. I currently smoke between 5 and 10 hand-rolled menthol-filter-tipped cigarettes per day. I've smoked since I was 15 and I'm now a couple of months away from 40. I always said I didn't want to be smoking when I hit 40, so I'm running out of time

My fiance smokes 20 B&H per day and is much more addicted to his habit than I am. He's been smoking for about 30 years and has never given up apart from a flight to Thailand once...and even then he had about 3 patches on and lit up as soon as his feet hit the ground.

We've discussed it, and we've decided to avoid tobacco as of Monday morning. He doesn't like referring to it as 'giving up smoking' as it sounds so daunting. Instead he sees it as avoiding tobacco and replacing it with e-cigs, patches and gum. Oh yeah, and will power :)

I'm also going to give Allen Carr's book for women a try as I hear good things about it. It can't hurt, right?

I'm quite excited. I gave up for 7 months in 2002 and was stupid to think I could 'just have one' which then led to another...and another...yeah we've all been there....and I ended up back on 10 per day.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and send all my heart-felt congratulations to those of you who are abstaining from The Weed. Hopefully I'll be joining you soon!

    Hiya people

I am quitting after developing a 50 a day habit over 30 years.

I went to the doctor today and she has started me on Chablix, so I was very surprised to learn I did not have to give up today. I was all geared up.

I wish you all well and thank you for any support you may give to me in the future

Thanks for the warm welcome :) You can be sure I will post my successes and (possible) abject failures here....even if for no other reason than to shame myself into getting back on the wagon!

    Hi Pixie and welcome.

I found the Allen Carr book very helpful. I had actually stopped for about three days when it arrived, but it really helped to seal my determination to get nicotine out of my life, once and for all.

Just remember when things get tough, that a lot of us have gone through those difficult few days and possibly a month or so, but in the end you come out the other side and is it very worth it to be able to live your life, free of that nagging nicotine.

    All the best. :)

Hello, nice to see some more people joining us.

daz, did you smoke all 80 yesterday?:rotfl::rotfl:;)

I'm having my first 'proper' craving of the day just now so the lolly is in:D Cigarettes have been on my mind pretty much constantly since starting to stop on Tuesday. Third day in and I haven't caved so I'm quite pleased about that. I'm almost doing a bit *too well* atm and have a feeling it will hit me more when I return to work on Monday and will want one as soon as I get home. Deep breaths:cool:
