Hi tiger-eyes, never any need to apologise for post lengths on here, far better to spend a while and give folk the correct information than a brief on that says very little. In the couple of years that I've been on here we've had so many people praising "Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking book", many have used that alone to successfully quit by. I think most of us need to try things to see just what good (or not) it does for us. I never used the book, but as I've heard so many sing it's praises, how on earth could I knock it! Well done on stopping tiger-eyes, soooo very much to be proud of!! :T
Hi and a warm welcome to a very healthy thread stov!!Well done on your success, so far, with Champix! Great news about your CM reading being so low already! You'll be so chuffed when it registers 0!!! All the best for Champix to do what you want!
Hi powerful_Rogue. It sounds as though your Dr is doing things right and wants to make sure all is well with whatever you use to stop with. He's obviously making sure your asthma is ok too. Smoking's left me with that as well, which is hardly any wonder after too many years of putting it in my lungs! All the very best with the running, you'll soon expand your lungs with running AND after having stopped smoking. Here's  to your new, healthy life!
All the very best to all our non-smokers, you're doing just great and deserve to give yourself as big, and as many, pats on the back as possible - ALL are merited!! Be so very proud of yourselves! Any hoverers, come on in and join us, it's worth doing that at least!

Fantastic news stclair!!! :T:T:T That is so very good to hear, it's also good to know you're not being affected or tempted in any way and that you didn't take the Champix for too long. Fellars generally seem to get through it easier and it looks as though you're no different.
Brilliant C, keep up the great work and ....all the very best of health for the future!

Good morning all.
I have had a bit of a turbulant weekend but I have come out the otherside without having a cigarette. The patches are still working, and after the Doctor prescribed me Diazepam for anxiety, I have only had to resort to taking one in 4 days, it really worked and it is nice to know I have them if I get desperate but I have no plans to use them on a regular basis.
How are the rest of you doing?
More and more people are finding out that I have stopped, I have quite a large circle of friends through football, and they are being very supportive but they know I don't want to talk about it.
Come on, keep going, we can do this.

hi all
not posted for a while finally managed to get ahead in the garden so been playing catch up its been a very long winter here
fantastic looking at the posts great to see so many successful newquitters and returning ones , never ever give up quitting ...you will reach that "click " moment and decide enough is enough you really want to free yourself from the chains of nicotine its amazing how that little white stick can control ones whole life ..
for me i remain determined , i wanted to stop , got sick of being a smoker a slave to nicotine and wanted to be free not felt like i should be giving up which has been my downfall in the past .
with amazing support on here and sheer will i have reached 4 months :j :j
it isnt easy , but believe me it DOES get easier stay strong , focused on the reasons why quitting is NOW the right time for you , post on here , get it off your chestno matter how crazy you think your thoughts are it helps to share and have that support , read too posts current and past ob how others are fairing and share those experiences
I wish you all , us all a happy smoke frree life x x0 -
Good Afternoon All,
Today is my first (hopefully!) smoke-free day! I have been on Zyban for 8 days and the last few days I felt like I've been smoking for the sake of it and not actually enjoying it like normal so decided today must be the day.Had my last cigarette at 8pm last night, and fingers crossed, so far I'm not tempted and don't feel like I'm craving :j
We'll see how it goes and see whether I manage this evening when I get home from work- OH has a 40 a day habit which might be quite testing!!!!!
Good luck to everyone else trying and congrats to those who are doing really well,

Hi Em
Great news, well done but be more positive! Never mind "We'll see how it goes and see whether I manage this evening", you can do it but you have to convince yourself first, not anybody else, convince yourself!
I think you need to have a word with your husband. It will be twice as hard for you if he is leaving his cigs around and you will soon realise that he stinks of stale tobacco!
I am not lecturing you, I am still struggling, but we can do this together, only positive thoughts, take each minute at a time and don't worry about what is around the corner.

Thank you very much Andrew, I think I didnt really know what to expect because of trying Zyban which I think is why I wasnt sure whether I would get to today! I have made it through the day without a cigarette and minimal cravings so far. OH has been going outside for a cigarette which I think has helped alot, it may sound strange but I still have a packet of cigarettes in my bag- it helps me think that I am choosing not to have a cigarette and instead of not being able to have one but maybe I should take them out of my bag!
You're doing really wellI'd love to be able to say I have gone a long time without a cigarette, as you said I shall now be positive and say I will be smoke free in 6 weeks (and not killing anyone in the meantime would be an added bonus
)
Thank you very much for the support :A[STRIKE]Saving for a deposit on a flat[/STRIKE]

Hi Em
Well done for day one, that is hopefully one of the hardest days over with.
I found it funny what you said about having cigarettes in your bag. For the first week I had a packet looking at me in my car, a packet in the porch, packets in every coat pocket, just like I would have had when I smoked. Now I was choosing not to smoke!
I still have a few packets around but I know I won't touch one because I am not going through another 28 days of this!
Em, the craving soon gets less, it is just resisting the temptation when something gets to you and you think sod it just one won't hurt or is it really that bad a thing to do. My mind has tried to play many tricks on me but it is not my mind it is that little b****** nicotine!
Good luck today, we will compare notes later.
