This is really good to know, thanks TYG, especially since we've recently been moved to the "Diaries" part instead of on the main page. We used to get a lot of folk, especially those who desperately needed to quit to save cash, so it's lovely to know we're still being seen if only briefly. Good to hear, thanks for the feedback TYG.

Hello everyone.......sorry I've not been on for a while....had a few family things to sort out & a broken laptop to contend with......got quite stressed but managed to sort everything without having a fag :j:j:j
It will be 8 weeks on tuesday since I quit & I can't quite believe I have got this far.
The one thing I have noticed since I stopped is how tired smoking was making me feel.......I used to put feeling knackered down to my age but now that I've quit I realise it was the fags that were making me feel like that.
Don't get me wrong I still have days when I don't feel up to par,but when I was smoking I felt like that ALL the time.
So keep on keeping on you guys, if I can do it anyone can (20 to 30 a day for 35 yrs on & off :eek::eek:)0 -

The only fruit I can't touch are strawberries, so will try apples tomorrow.
I'll also try harder with the water. I'm lucky in one sense, that I don't like fizzy drinks, etc
I was one of these women who had 3 coffees and as many cigs before I left the house in a morning (slap my forehead!!)
Its just so bl**dy uncomfortable, it questions why I'm doing this to myself. I do know why though.
I'm determined to stick it out....
Hi tinyyorkshiregirl !!!
I'm one of the quitters who has been having probs in the "toilet department" so I know how you feel,I thought I might explode at one point I was so bloated:eek::eek::eek:.
I was doing all the right things but nothing made much difference, even laxatives in "blockbuster" strength !!
However (thank god !!), this last week or so things are getting much better on their own.......I guess if we have been doing something for 20 or 30 years & then suddenly stop our bodies will need time to adjust.
Your post made me smile, as like you, my idea of a healthy breakfast used to be 3 coffees & as many fags......mind you, it always did the trick in the "toilet" department !!0 -
Hi folks! Have not been on here for awhile so have been catching up on the posts. Fantastic that there are new non-smokers here:T
Well, it is almost 3 months; am on the last few tiny patches and should be feeling positive, confident and extremely pleased with myself.
Yes?
NO
I need some help here so would someone please give me a good talking to?
Was in hospital last week for 4 days and was thrilled that there was no craving, no coughing , no plotting for a quick escape. However, since coming home, I have fought a constant battle with the cravings. It has not helped that there are 2 smokers here, popping outside for a quick smoke; that there is little chance of escape as I cannot drive for about 4 weeks; that I cannot garden or get on with the 1001 jobs that need to be done; that jeans no longer fit and I am feeling sooooooooooo overweight!
A voice inside me is saying ~ okay, you reached your second long term goal so surely now you can just have one ~ yes, we have heard that one before! Just as well that I cannot get to the shops and would have to ask someone to buy me cigarettes ~ that would be so humiliating.
I have not forgotten all the reasons for stopping and do not want to be a smoker ~ I just need the comfort. Does that make sense?I am a non-smoker :j last cigarette 10th February 20100 -
Awwww old Reekie, I feel for you I really do.
I think we just have to take these out of the blue cravings on the chin. They are the price we pay for being daft enough to smoke in the first place, I am sorry to say.
I celebrated my year last week and YET on Friday I was round a friends and she was rolling a baccy fag and for a fleeting second I had a wistful longing for the comfort of a smoke, so I do know where you are coming from.
You are doing so marvellously well - it will pass. Beware of other smokers, seeing them can fool us that there is some benefit to smoking. If we cave in we are back at square one and feeling foolish and disgusted with that foul, anxiety ridden chemical.
Best wishes OR and here is a comfort hug.(( (:))))Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Really appreciate the hug, larmy16 :A And well done on the one year anniversary :T That is amazing.
The "out of the blue cravings" I can cope with but not when it is all day long as it is at present.....from the first cup of tea in the morning:eek: Two weeks ago, I thought I had this cracked.
Cannot even have a bit of chocolate for comfort!:(I am a non-smoker :j last cigarette 10th February 20100 -
Hello fellow quitters, a quick update.
On Saturday my football team got promoted (only just).
On Sunday the amateur football team that I manage won our cup final.
and all this without a cigarette!!!!!!!!!!
I am still on 25mg patches, I have only taken 3 Diazepam in 10 days. The cravings are almost non-existent, anxiety has disappeared, it is going fantastically.
I hope I am not sounding like I am gloating, but I am!!!!!
Come on, 40 years of smoking 20 a day and now this, we can do it, just believe.

Hi OldReekie - Sorry if I sounded like I was trying to minimise your cravings - if it really is all day long then you are obsessing about it. All I can say is maybe it is your time to grieve for the loss of smoking? We can get carried through on a high for the first couple of months and then it hits us that we no longer have that crutch and we really have given up.
I also see that you can not get on with the things you want to do. This is probably why nicotine has reared its head with all its promises of helping you. As you know, we have only two options, to stay quit or to start again. It really is that simple.
You have come so far........persevere...it will pass. If you are stuck with nothing to do, have you ever tried going in to DT on here? Maybe that will divert your attention.
Or sit and list all the things you will do when you can.
Sorry you are feeling like this OR. Another big hug for you......(((:))))

Hi everyone
Just calling in to say that I'm still a non-smoker. I've had an horrendous time of late stresswise (including being stranded overseas due to volcanic ash), but I refused to give in.
For the first time EVER, I walked around the airport's duty free shops and DIDN'T buy fags.
I'm not cocky about not smoking - I know I'm still vulnerable - what I am saying is what I've said before: if I can do it anyone can do it. As ever, I hope my input inspires and helps others.

Hi everyone
I'm still going strong. Seem to have had a permanent cold since quitting which is annoying but I suppose it's just all the gunk going. The idea of smoking disgusts me but at the same time I still feel that something is missing and feel down a lot of the time.
Well done everyone x We will get there in the end!0
