Hello fellow quitters, a quick update.
On Saturday my football team got promoted (only just).
On Sunday the amateur football team that I manage won our cup final.
and all this without a cigarette!!!!!!!!!!
I am still on 25mg patches, I have only taken 3 Diazepam in 10 days. The cravings are almost non-existent, anxiety has disappeared, it is going fantastically.
I hope I am not sounding like I am gloating, but I am!!!!!
Come on, 40 years of smoking 20 a day and now this, we can do it, just believe.
Andrew
I'm so glad that everything is getting better for you- gloat away- you deserve it! :A
I'm on day 8 now and feel like gloating already[STRIKE]Saving for a deposit on a flat[/STRIKE]

waccoe, "gloat" away- you are allowed to here ..I think?
Have absolutley no idea what all that stuff about football means but you are doing fantastically well as a non-smoker.
You are helping too, in reminding me that we should be celebrating our achievements.
Thank you!I am a non-smoker :j last cigarette 10th February 20100 -
hi all
So encouraging to see so many new folk joining us on this wonderful liberating smoke free life
you are doing so so well and deserve too a pat on the back :T:T
having past my personnal hurdle ( the one i used to cave in at ) i do from time to time try and envisage myself holding a cigareete and inhaling ... the thought i am glad to say REPULSES ME , i continue to find the smell of cigarettes andsmokers totally disgusting and repel at the thought that i too used to walk about smeling like a soggy fag end . i think its true for me since quitting my sense of smell has become more acute i am more sensitive to aromas about me ( not all of them pleasant though i have an incontinent cat)
along with obvious finanacial benefits a whopping £582 so far and thats was me on 15 a day:eek:. i do feel more energised and empowered by freeing myself from the chains of smoking great not to have my life ruled by the o so inocent white stick .....
stay strong everyone and for those newly on the path of freedom stay focused on why you chose to quit its the best choice you will ever make take one day one hour at a time and feel proud that you have taken back coontrol of your life . do it for YOU
i wish you all , us all well x x0 -
Hi everyone, just thought I'd pop in and let you all know that I'm still smoke free. I've still not had any cravings at all!
Strange thing though, my mum went to the doctor to ask for Zyban too and she told her it was banned? My mum is all worried now so I might phone up and complain about the doctor spreading misinformation.
Well done to everyone else for staying smoke free!0 -
Well done emilyka - keep on enjoying the freedom and gloat away :T
And Tippytoes - that must be nearly 4 months, how fantastic. You are an inspiration - not sure I would have coped with all that stress. Did you go "cold turkey"?
whathavewedone - you have cracked the 3 days and 3 weeks, well done you :T Know all about that "something is missing" feeling ~ some of us have written about it in previous posts, especially meHave you had a read back to see how others have handled it? I do not have too many episodes these days but that could be a combination of the NRT, legal mind bending drugs and chocolate buttons
Oh, larmy, another big hug, thank you so much. No, I did not think you were minimising my cravingsYou are always so wise and I have to agree with you about the initial "high" - the cravings keep us on our toes. Now, that the habit is broken, we need sheer will power. "As you know, we have only two options, to stay quit or to start again. It really is that simple." So true
Another project is needed and there is a list a mile long but, first, I must recover my strength and once mobile, lose weight  Living in yoga trousers! Hence the banning of chocolate in the house.
Plenty to keep me busy while resting; masses of books to read, letters to write but what is "DT on here"? Please tell - but not if it is addictive!I am a non-smoker :j last cigarette 10th February 20100 -
Very many congratulations to Fliss, oldreekie, Andrew, Tippytoes, whathavewedone, jammy dodger and bucketshop!!!!! :T:T:T:T:T:T:TYou're all doing sooooooo very well indeed, I can't believe the amount of time some of you have got to, but it's all credit to you all for having stayed the course and continued on that wonderful journey! I'm delighted you've all returned with your immense pride AND to help others in knowing that it CAN be done. Very well done indeed ALL.
Just a thought bucketshop before you go complaining about the Dr: Could your Mum's Dr have told her about the Zyban because she/he doesn't think it's suitable for her due to her health or age perhaps. There are times when all of us, for whatever reason, are forced to tell little white lies to protect folk, maybe this is such a time. Ring and ask to speak to her/him.
oldreekie you sound as though you're quite a bit incapacitated for the time being, think around things you can do on your lap; patience, knitting, painting or similar such things. How about going to a site called pogo, I don't know the full name, but my friend goes there now and then and plays word games with people. I don't know anything about it, but have a look round and see what you think before signing up. Have a look through jammy's post....come to that...you've the entire thead to look through AND I can let you have the link to our previous thread if you'd like. I haven't a clue what larmy's talking about with regards DT??? I've just skimmed through the threads and can't find anything.
Andrew I think I can understand what you mean about the football, stressful things to manage to get through.....but.....you DID it!!!!
Thanks to jammy, I'm closing with her last paragraph, and how right she is:
"Stay strong everyone and for those newly on the path of freedom stay focused on why you chose to quit its the best choice you will ever make take one day one hour at a time and feel proud that you have taken back control of your life. Do it for YOU"

Many thanks, larmy, for the explanation! And Sue-UU for the suggestions :T You should not be encouraging me to spend more time on my laptop
Actually........... I was wondering today about Second Life ...... do you think they have chocolate there? Wonder if my avatar would put on weight?:rotfl:

You bet there's chocolate there oldreekie, and we'll be able to consume it all day if we wish and never alter in our vital stats..at least that's my take on how it should be.:A
Re politics, it's interesting times for sure. I wonder what Dickens would have made of it after his quote of "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times"....but now we're in the bloomin' middle and I'd just as well not have voted as I did NOT vote for one lot but got the b*****s anyway! These tworemind you of anyone perhaps? The "Odd Couple" maybe? There'll be another pregnancy on the way before long!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Thank goodness for that explanation larmy, you had me up for longer than I should have been as it baffled me something rotten. :doh:Thankfully I can sleep peacefully in a mo.:)
I'm away to me bed, tas been a trying day. Keep your feet on that wonderful road to success everyone, the taste of it once you get there is TERRIFIC! :j

Good afternoon all
Can i join in here for the support?? Today is my first day on the patches and i am keeping myself very busy!! I'm going smoke free for lots of reasons, like all of you , but mainly these below....
Health, have had 2 heart attacks and have asthma. Just getting over a cold and the coughing leaves me bright red and streaming eyes, very attractive, not!
Cost, £1,825, a year minimum, up in smoke
Family concern, my 4 children and their partners have given up in the past successfully, and i have 9 dgk's , the youngest, daisy, doesnt like the smell, that alone is reason enough!
Also pure vanity!! i could do lots with the money wasted on the 'weed'
I have read a few pages of the thread and i'll catch up with the rest later. Thanks
