Good news Taxi - I should have myself checked out but am having to undergo rather a frightful dental time with loads of extractions - all down to smoking in the main. So will get that sorted first I think.

All the best - hope the steroid inhaler course goes well & everything clears up.

Well the domestic situation isn't getting any better and as a result I smoked again this weekend. Last one yesterday at 4pm. I seem to be able to not smoke at work but today little thoughts are in my head saying "what difference does it make, you might as well just keep smoking now". I think I am on a downward spiral and will end up back on 20 a day before much longer.

I am mentally too tired dealing with the carp at home to be able to deal with the not smoking too. :(

I need to get my head sorted and remember why I don't want to smoke but I am finding it really difficult because I am thinking about so many other things. I am still on champix but keep forgetting to take it. I see the practice nurse tomorrow but as I can't bear the woman and think she is an idiot I doubt that will help.

Sorry just needed to get that off my chest.

    Ameliarate - I'm really sorry.

I hope that things are redeemable.

I must admit that myself & better half went through an awful time & are still abit fragile - my fault in many ways & I blame the Champix for a lot of it.
If I had access to shops I am pretty sure I might have given in & bought cigs before now.
You seriously need a decent cessation person to talk with - I only met mine the once & boy was she brilliant.
If you want to talk I'll email you my number - seriously.
Give us the nod & I'll send you my number & we can chat any time.

Ameliarate - so sorry to hear that you are having such a bad time. Really, really do mean that. You were so strong and determined so it must have taken a hell of a lot to shake you. Under the circumstances I can understand why you will have needed the comfort - where it not for the op in a couple of weeks, I may have folded by now. OH and I are squabbling like a couple of 3 year olds and I have found that not smoking has made me even more intolerant of his failings :D.

Strange, because I have the patches and lozenges so it is not a lack of nicotine. It has to be those quiet, reflective "me" moments while smoking that I need in order to cope with the problems in life. Always had my best ideas while smoking. Sorted the problems in my head.

I do hope that you find someone to talk to; someone to steer you through this minefield.

Sorry, but this made me :rotfl:

On a more serious note, I have had a diagnosis of COPD for many years but have never had that test. May demand it just to prove them wrong - hopefully - though I do not want to know how old my lungs are

Oldreekie - I think you maybe right about the me time thing. Although I haven't been able to write as such since stopping smoking I am having a time of major rethink - quite exhausting really.
And like you am definately less tolerant towards better half.

I do have a sore throat - that'll be all the shouting I'm doing!

As I keep saying, I haven't stabbed anyone yet, but I have had my moments.

'Morning choille - may I ask? Do you mean "write" as in the love of putting down words on "paper"? Only ask because I am finding that the words just will not flow but then my thought process resembles socks in a tumble dryer. It was my intention to start a blog about this non-smoking lark in the hope that it would help to make sense of what was happening in by head: whether or not anyone read it would not matter one jot! I have made several attempts to start but cannot find the words to express what I am experiencing. Does this make sense? Probably not:(
