Hi Guys,
Thought i would just pop my head around the door to say *HI*
Day 6 on Nicorette Gum here, and although doing well, am making a conscious effort to keep busy and not give into temptation. By that I mean go and buy some cigs! I havent got a single cig anywhere in the house, so know I can't even have 1 without having to go out and buy 10. Which of course, as we all know, I woudnt then just have 1, would smoke the 10.
Feel ok, but am thinking about smoking a lot, interesting to read how your'e all getting on with Champix though.
Keep up the good work!

I haven't read the Allan Carr - or if I have it was from a long ago attempt and I've forgotten itI've not heard of anyone getting addicted to any of the forms of NRT. I've got a friend who stopped months ago cos he had a heart attack and he still carries his inhalator around with him, but empty. He says it's like a kind of trophy for what he managed to do.
I reckon too it's different strokes for different folks. Me, I reckon I'm addicted not just to the drug, but more to the habit, so the NRT eases me off the nicotine while I try and fight a habit that is so ingrained after 30 years.
Day 21 is looming, but I'm not finding the prospect so scary anymore. Have ordered the wool for the jumper. Friend is XXL, so that should keep me busy for a while!
Stay strong and healthy y'all
I have to say that I believe NRT is addictive. My boss stopped smoking about 2 months after me, so he'll be on about 7 months now. But in all that time he's never stopped the nicotine gum and inhalator. He says he still finds it a struggle. I believe this is because he's still getting a hit of nicotine from these things.
I think you should wean yourself of NRT as soon as you can.
I went to an Allen Carr clinic and somehow in that it expels the myths about it being anything but addiction - including, strangely habit.
However, I agree with you - whatever works for you and as long as the smoking has stopped that's what matters.0 -
I'm now on day 5 without smoking real cigarettes. I've been smoking an electronic cigarette instead with a view to gradually reducing the nicotine levels in it. I cannot believe how easy it has been. I've tried patches and gum before and failed miserably and felt awful. This has been brilliant. My husband brought one home and I actually had a go at him for buying a gimmicky gadget ... until I tried it! It is so similar to smoking that you feel like you are still smoking. I really like the idea that I can smoke it with no nicotine in it too because that has been hard for me before, resisting the urge to smoke when in the company of other smokers.

Hi Neenie that's bad. Some receptionists think they're God's own goalkeeper. The power has gone to their heads.
I'm glad you complained as that sort of attitude stinks & does no one any good.
It's really good that you have managed to get some tablets to cover you or else you would have been stuck - so not on.
Good on you sticking with it.
All the best
i walked over as its only 2 mins walk from me and as im deaf , i cant hear on the phone ,
the receptionist wouldnt make one for me , as they would only accept phonecalls ,
i told them i was deaf and unable to use the phone ,
no use , it fell on deaf ears
in the end i had to email a friend to phone up for me :mad:The original janiebaby0 -

Hun, you should have complained about this!!! That is totally unacceptable behaviour on their part. A swift letter to the Practice Manager, or your local PCT would have done the trick. I am appauled by the manner in which the receptionist dealt with you, she has obviously not been on the countless Customer Services courses that are available to them.0 -
