Hi all and what great vibes are coming from each post. By heck Puzzled I do believe they ALL CAN!!!! :j
Many congratulations to you on 3 weeks smoke-free Fee!!!!:T
I think I'd agree with Puzzled and larmy about the Silk-quit online counter part as I'm sure it would make me obsess about cigs. However, as always, we're all different so I guess a sensible thing to do would be to download it and see if it's friend or foe; if the latter - get shot of it - simples!
I'm sure you're right in that you had back to front cravings MumOf2, weird how this business gets you, but I reckon you've hit the nail on the head as you got off to an amazing start. I don't think it'll apply to you, but just in case, be careful not to become complacent from here on.
Re your weight gain LC, are you sure that none of that is because of Christmas & New Year? We're less than a fortnight away from the first and only days since the latter, so........! Concentrate on feeling good about your quit for now, though if picking in the evening is your problem, try finding something for your hands and mind to be focused on. Plenty of choice there!!!
Very well done indeed glo!!!:T
Up the exercise then ceebeeby!! You'll get there and you'll get rid of the weight, meanwhile exercise, exercise, exercise! Water too don't forget, when you feel snacky reach for it.
Amazing how likened to quitters that piece can be Puzzled, though I think they CAN!!!
Back later everyone. Keep up the GREAT work cause you KNOW you CAN!!!:T

Well done to all the recent quitters who are still going strong! Well done to FEE for hitting three weeks - not long till you can count it in months!:D
I was really pleased today that despite it being a stressful day, and being asked if I wanted to pop out to the balcony for a smoke, I made it through. Not only that I managed to do a good 20 mins on the exercise bike this evening!
Weekend starts tomorrow night for mee so need to be good and do some more exercise!

Day 6 Update ....
Had my couple of miles hike, and was gorgeously refreshing!
However, have totally blown all munching out of the water, with my home-made apple pie which had to be eaten ... arghhh!
No smoking has been a breeze in comparison to the lack of chocolate / sweets etc. The car's still too smelly, but another long journey today with the windows open is helping. To be honest, the smell was so off putting, I didn't even want a fag, and my journey to work is my usual 'heavy' puffing time.
When I left work, the first thing I used to do when getting into car was light up - and I thought about this as was walking to the car. But by the time I got there, I'd forgotten, and wasn't until I was 15 mins into journey that I remembered again.
I've tried a couple of pieces of Wrigley chewing gum - but it makes me quite ... errr .... windyso have given that up (too much info??).
Well done everyone!!!!0 -
Best bit of today - going to a doctor's appointment desperate for him to ask the long standing, routine question '..and when are you going to give up smoking?' How great did I feel when I could tell him I gave up last year!! Only just, I admit - but hey - it was still last year!! Seriously though, it was a really good feeling.
Do you know ceebeeby the smell in my car was one of the things I noticed too!! And do you know - it's still there 4 weeks on despite air freshners!! If that's what I was doing to the inside of my car I dread to think what I was doing to the inside of me!
Agree with the other posts that we're all different and what works for one person may not work for another. I think it's just finding those things that help. Personally I had to put in a lot of preparation before my final quit day mainly so I could lose as many associations with smoking as I could, such as realising that it is possible to leave the house in the morning without having a cigarette first. I also had to really plan each day for the first 4 or 5 days simply so I could avoid all my danger times, yet I know some people faced them head on.
But the one thing that I found really helped in the early days was to be kind to yourself. I would treat myself to something every day, maybe only reading a magazine in bed with a lovely mug of hot chocolate whilst the house looked an absolute tip and there was a stack of ironing or buying myself something lovely to eat for dinner, but it was my 'well done girl - you treat yourself to something!!'
Anyway, enough of my rambles. Well done jammydodger, desertflyer, glodh and ceebeeby - the early days are tough, but stick with it. Fee and LC - I remember your first postings and look at you both now - fantastic!!!! I get so chuffed for other people you know so bear with me everyone!!

Sue - the copying and pasting onto an email worked!! Blimey - my computer skills are improving too. There's no end to the benefits of this no smoking malarky :-) Many thanks xx0

Desert I still like the smell of ciggys - that couple weren't actually smoking, no it's the stale smell on clothes and furniture etc I don't like. I can still be found hanging around someone smoking!!!Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I was watching Paul McKenna last night - "I can make you thin" and he went through this tecnique called tapping which takes away cravings.
You tap.
Under eye on top of cheek bone 10 times.
Tap collar bone 10 times.
Tap side of hand 10 times or top of hand
Look to left
Look to right
Rotate eyes completely one way
Then the next.
This is based on acupressure points and resets the brain to a state of equilibrium.
It does not matter which side you tap on. Hope this might help someone in dire straits with a craving. If it all sounds confusing by my explanation, you can probably google it and get a diagram.
Now for me to put it into practice. This snow is getting me down as I cannot get to work and being self employed means no money, which means stress,
which means................I want to eat chocolate!!!:rolleyes:Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Evening everyone and a happy smoke free year to you all
I'm counting the days now to my ONE YEAR quit smoking anniversary, which will be on the 25th of this month. I did worry Christmas get togethers / celebrations / family fall outs would trigger old urges to smoke, but glad to say I sailed through it all :j
Good luck to all of us,
Pam0 -
Well day 6 over and glad too say not smoking has not really bothered me still.
but i do have a ? for anyone that has used NicAssist 2mg gum from boots i have only had 3 pieces a day and basically today my stomach has a really heavy bloated feeling is this normal is what i am wondering it does say possible side affect is stomach discomfort... not sure if it is me being silly or not but does discomfort mean pain as i dont have pain it just feels as if i have a football in there if that make sense lol
anyway might give gum a miss for a day or 2 ( if i can) and see if it makes a difference.
WELL DONE all of us non smokers lets stay this way.0
