Good going jammy dodger!! Being on day 3 really feels god doesn't it, keep it up, a day at a time! The sledging sounded a great idea and will certainly have done you good.
Well done MumOf2, you sound so very much better now!! :jGive yourself a good pat on the back as you deserve it!!! :T I was so pleased to read you'd every intention of going out for a walk or jog last night. You already know that's a great help so good for you to do your best to do so!! Good luck with the facial, though what a favour it's done you regardless!!!!
It's so good to see you here helping us Puzzled!!!:T By golly you've come such a long way and deserve all the pride I know you must be feeling!!!
Well done mrs-d! I love the way you're viewing at quitting. Keep it up and stay strong!! By the way, you know what to do with the money you save!!!!
Hello DesertFlyer and a warm welcome! I really do hope that this time will be the time when you can quit for good - or for LIFE - YOURS!!!! You're right about water, it's a great aid. Have a look at the PM I've sent and see if you can find some tips there too. BTW. Not sure about MumOf2, but I definitely noticed a decrease in cravings as expected after having quit almost 2 months
Excellent news Luckycharm!!!!:T Keep going as you are now and you'll soon be to a fortnight!!! Stay strong!
Hi bucketshop and well done so far. However, if I were you I'd ring your GP or Pharmacist and explain how your feeling as I'm sure he/she would be able to help you in knowing if it's the Zyban or Flu.
Very well done indeed Glo! 5 days is a great achievement and you should be so thrilled!! :T Buying yourself a treat of new clothes at Matalan is an excellent idea and really does spur you on!
Oh Molly, doesn't that disappearing post business exasperate you! It doesn't happen to me nowadays, but how about you wring your post on an e-mail with the thread up so you can see it. Worth giving a shot. I'm still suffering terribly with my flying cursor which takes all the words off with it - even if I saved them!!! You've done marvellously having gone 4 weeks without a cigarette and you should indeed be so very chuffed with yourself!! :T Terrific news Molly!!! You're so right about advising everyone to stick with is - as it really does get better the further you go on your journey!
Bless your darling gran Ceebeeby! Oh I hope you told her of your quest...or that you will and how the satsumas helped you, as well as boosting your moral, it'll certainly do so with hers!
Oh Joanne, I just love helping others with quitting. I desperately wanted to for years and after SO much time of worrying myself sick, I managed to do! It was then that I realised there must be so very "me's" out there, but I couldn't help them. Then I came across MSE and Jo's first thread and since then I've been thoroughly enjoying others wishing to do what I'd done. So, if I can help anyone just a tiny bit, it's brilliant news!!!!
Don't worry about you having felt sorry for yourself at the one stage, we can't help the way we feel after all. I really do think that a good cry works wonders! I was so pleased you'd pushed yourself to go out, well done!! Pleased also that your family were rallying round to help you. Those are good ideas to help free your car from the stench.
Stay really strong everyone and you CAN get to the end of your journeys! You'll never do anything better for yourself than to quit smoking, so please do as the feeling of euphoria you'll get is superb!!!! :j:j

Wow! Felt really good to wake up this morning and think that it has been 3 days!
I found I woke up better than I normally do, as in fresher and more naturally. Normally I have to snooze for 30 mins or so and I'm sure this has something to do with Nicotine dependency.
I remember the same feeling in the first week or so when I tried to quit last time, but I had forgotten all about it.
Does anyone else find it easier to wake up?

DesertFlyer - waking up feeling fresher is one of the major benefits of not smoking. Gone are the mornings when it feels like always waking with a dreadful hangover! And gone are the nights of staying up far too late just to have another cigarette (which leads to another and another and another...).
Thanks again for your encouraging comments, Sue. Feeling much better now.
I think I just had back to front cravings! It was fine with no cravings for the first 6 weeks then a couple of days of almost constant ones. Having come through them am now going hours without it even crossing my mind but when it does it's in a mildly abstract way and certainly not a desire to have one.
Keep strong, keep going :-)

I woke up feeling good about my quit then made the fatal mistake of weighing myself. I've gained 3lbs. I know it isn't the end of the world but I'm worried I keep gaining and gaining until I'm hugely overweight.
I know smoking is not the answer. Also I thought I was doing ok eating lots of fruit, drinking water and walking a lot. TBH, I think I have been eating extra at night time.
So, now I need a health kick for a couple of weeks to shift these 3lbs before they turn into more. I'm determined not to smoke though.
Best of luck everyone.

Day 6
Am on lunch-break at work, and having a good no-smoking morning, but disastrous munchy morning! Am still having the odd "oooh, must be time for a fag", but just go over to the water machine and have a good guzzle instead.
Have so far had TWO bowls of cereal (okay - it was with watered down skimmed milk!) but it was Coco Pops (think I was trying to cheat with the chocolate!!!) plus half a bag of Frazzle Crisps!
Now I need to get off my fat lazy bottom and go for a walk around the park to make up for it! See you all later and hope your days are going good!!! x0 -
hey all,
just popping in to say hi, well done and keep it up
You have to be like the little train that could http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Little_Engine_That_Could
remember you can do this!
Gosh, ive gone all motivational on here but the rest of my posts are totally opposite hehe.
Todays top tip is remember what works for you, everyone has wonderful advice and lots of people use Silk-quit online counter - but that made me obsess last time i quit and i ended up failing becuase i was so busy checking the counter every minute it made me think about smoking more lol
Now take deep breaths everyone and remember your lungs are getting healthier with every breath0 -
I kind of agree with Puzzled about the Silkquit thingy. I never tried it because I would see it as the equivalent of hopping on and off the scales making me even more obsessed about food than I am!
Sometimes when something is especially plaguing my mind, I tell myself that I have to think about that thing and nothing else for the next half hour or whatever. By doing this, after a little while of focussing on the thing, my mind rebels and says I don't want to think about that and keeps drifting off to other more pleasant thoughts. It might help someone who is trying not to think about smoking?
Well done everyone. It's not easy in the early days but it will pass.
I just walked by a couple who were not smoking but the stench of fags was quite staggering.

Woo hoo 3 wks today I am thrilled. Also about a week since I came off the patches so totally free of all smoking poisons too. I disagree re the silkquit counter I find it really helps me to see how much Ive not smoked and how much Ive saved too, it just shows how everyone is different when giving up. Thats why I love coming on here and posting, knowing that someone out there is getting encouraged to quit because they see how we are all doing.
Can believe your on day 12 already luckycharm that has really went in fast... (tho prob doesnt feel like it for u:rotfl:)!well done:T Good luck to all quitters it really does get easier:D!Smoke free since 16th Dec 2009
