BMS - I'm with you on the wine. I cracked a bottle red open before started dinner last night - as my most enjoyable 2 cigs used to be the one with a cup of tea when I got in from work and the one after dinner. Now find I cant drink tea when I get in as just want a ciggy. Anyhow, only managed 2 glasses last night (unusual for me) but the Champix I took after my dinner made me real queezy (downed a pint of water and sat still for 20 mins and seemed to be okay) then finished the glass of red....he he...

I had dreams again last night, just as vivid, tho not as strange/weird. I still woke up at 2am tho (something I would never normally do), it's hard enough usually to get me outta bed for 7.30am. I wonder if it's the Champix or is it the actual nicotine withdrawal thats doing it?? Either way, I hope it doesnt continue for too long......I DO like my sleep!

    xx

    Hello all,

This thread is amazing and such a help, so I thought I join in.........

I'm on Day 17 now!!! I first went to the Smoking Cessation Nurse on 16th April, and she gave me 21mg patches and 2mg gum. I planned to start on 20th April, well it took me a couple of weeks to actually get going seriously, but I finally had my last ciggie on 3rd May.

I can't say it's been easy, but I'm getting there. My DH has also joined in as he was diagnosed with COPD at the end of April. He stopped the day after me and is doing really well too, but without the help of the nurse.

My patches are 24 hour ones, but I found I was waking up in the night and was then unable to get back to sleep, I don't know whether it was the patches or the nicotine withdrawal, but I now take the patch off before going to bed. I am now sleeping better which is a big help.

When I first saw the nurse, my Carbon Monoxide level was 33, two weeks ago it was down to 5 and today down to 4!!!!! I asked her if it would ever get to zero and she told me it was unlikely as there is always some around in the air, but that anything below 10 was excellent, and that ,most people were between 2 and 5 so that made me feel a lot better!!

Good luck to everyone else on here, we can and will succeed!!! :T

Gromit - re the dreams and interrupted sleep, i think that may just be nic withdrawal. I'm having real trouble getting to sleep, and then waking up hourly. I doubt I managed 3 hrs last night. I'm hoping it's just a first few days thing tho.

    Missmilly - 17 days, congratulations :T

I'm finding posting on this thread quite therapeutic actually, it's good to see we all go through the same feelings and reactions.

I know I wasn't coming back until 3 months but I really needed a cig yesterday as I had to have my poor old cat put to sleep and my poor children are heartbroken, it was a very hard day. I still didn't have one though and I am really proud of myself, anything life is throwing at me at the moment I am getting through without relying on nicotine.
Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

    Just want to be...Happy

Sorry to hear the bad news shimmershelly, but well done for getting through a tough day - you are right to be proud of yourself and hopefully you have proved that you can get through any kind of day now :-)

Aww shelly, am dreading that day coming to us, well done on not having one though. I'm back to beginning again after all my little episodes with Champix and what not. Not finding it so hard, this week, not liking the smell of a lit one at work either. Still losing weight. Will be nothing of me left at this rate :rotfl: (I wish)

Well done. Your nicotine addiction wants you to light a ciggie for any reason.

    How true.

    Ever seen this written?

    The man takes a drink.
    The drink takes a drink.
    The drink takes the man.

    So.

    The man has a cigarette.
    The cigarette has a cigarette.
The cigarette has the man. (substitute woman if appropriate).

Sums up addiction nicely I think. Only we can put a stop to it. As you say the Nicotine wants us to smoke.
