    Hi all!

I had a pretty hairy bank holiday weekend. Had a bit of a falling out with my DH and of course Nick was there in the background, rubbing his hands with glee and whispering in my ear! What a creep. I kicked him into touch but for some reason, my weak times are Friday evenings and bank holidays.

Anyway I have a couple of books on quitting smoking. It shows how times have changed as they both talk about the temptation of lighting up in the pub, resteraunts etc. and I was thinking just how little reason there is these days to continue with the weed.

When it boils down to it - it really is just drug addiction with absolutely no positives bar the illusional ones we ascribe to it.

Keep it up all of you.:) We will and are succeeding - though as an umpteenth time quitter I can never let up the vigilance!

Hi guys. Sadly been offline as my dear dad passed away on 15th May.

But I have not been tempted by having a ciggie even though it would be the easiest excuse in the world. I know I would have felt so much worse had I thought the cigs would be the route to go down. I heartily recommend the Allen Carr method (the book didn't work for me but the clinic certainly did). If I could explain how it works here the clinics wouldn't be necessary, but believe me they do remove the need or want to smoke.

Believe me the cravings, they are all in your mind and cigs do not relieve stress, they do not make you feel better when you are sad or angry. They do Nothing for you at all.

SandC, my heart goes out to you, deepest condolances to you and your family.

I'd given up smoking for 2 1/2 years back in 1993 when my dad passed away, we were with him when it happened in hospital and the first thing I did was run out and nick a fag from my mum and smoke it. It's amazing how the trigger was there and I didn't give myself time to think about it.

Well done SandC for a fantastic achievement :)

Just re-read your post and realised that you actually went to the clinic. Which one did you go to and how much was it (if you're allowed to tell us?). Thanks for the great feedback for the clinic, I hope it helps others :)

Thank you jo, that's very kind.

I went to a clinic at Crewe, run by a lovely lady called Debbie. She does clinics in Stoke on Trent, Crewe, Shrewsbury and Telford I think. I paid £170 as I saw an article in Best magazine and it said if you quote the magazine you would get £50 off. It's obviously normally £220 but booking online is £195 I believe.

Worth it for me as it really did work and was only a bit more than what I was spending on Marlboro lites each month. I don't know how it works but it does!

SandC - I'm so sorry to hear you lost your Dad and send heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

Your resolve to stay off the weed at this tough time for you is admirable and an inspiration, especially for a newbie-quitter such as myself.
