    Morning everyone,

Great to read all the positive posts in the last week ... well done everyone :j

Pleased to report that, at last, my awful hacking cough (which I had way before stopping smoking but which has got a lot worse) has improved no end and I've actually slept well for the last two nights ... for the first time in many months! This was the main change I was waiting for and the one which will really inspire me to keep off the cigarettes.

On the slightly negative side, I've put on 4lbs in weight this week :o I reckon the fact that everyone tells you "you're bound to put on weight" has subconsiously given me permission to eat myself stupid, so must really try and concentrate on getting back into shape this week. It doesn't help being about a stone overweight before giving up, so I will focus on this the coming week.

Cravings are getting less, though after tea I get niggling little reminders that it should be "ciggie time" and Friday''s are quite hard when I have a couple of drinks out and meet up with friends/family ... some of whom smoke. This doesn't bother me at all, it's more having a drink in my hand and feeling there's something missing, but I know this will pass icon7.gif

So sorry to hear about your sister-in-law Sue. It's such a shame that so many of us lose people we're close to due to this terrible addiction. We really do owe it to our family and friends to keep well and stay off the killer cigarettes.

Have a great weekend everyone and keep positive icon10.gif

Morning one and all I have been a non smoker now for over a year, reading all your post's have taken me back to my first cigarette free day, I was so proud that I had gone one day without smoking lol. now over a year later I feel great. no more waiting in airports till the last minute before you go through departures  cause you just have to have another cigarette before you board that plain. I purchased the Allen Carr book easy way to give up smoking and have never looked back. our subconscious minds have a lot to answer for :rotfl: good luck everybody :T

Yes, Jonathon I tried it and it worked! Stupidly I started again 10 months later, thinking I was over it and could "just have one". You can't ... without immediately becoming addicted again

    I was a reasonably heavy smoker (25+ a day).

I did too but it didnt' work long for me, same as Allen Carr so I guess things seeping into my subconscious just seep back out again just as quick. :o

To anyone thinking of doing the Allen Carr Clinic.. if you shop at Tesco you can use your vouchers to pay for it. I think £5 of voucher is worth £20 when traded in for a deal so well worth the money :D

  • I tried hypnosis but it only worked for about 3 weeks then I really fancied smoking again.

Also it didn't help with the withdrawal symptoms, it just strengthened my resolve initially.

It was the same with Alan Carr for me, it worked for a while and that was it. I think some of us are more susceptible to suggestion than others.

Glad to hear everyone is doing so well. Have had a horrid cold this week, third this year. I do wonder if this cold has been brought on by not smoking. Anyway am off all NRT now, forgot to put a patch on the other day and haven't looked back. Have been very grumpy this week and really felt like a fag last night but chose not to. Good to hear everyone sounding so positive.
Not massively in debt, but possibly heading there!

Firsty thankyou Sue-UU for your pm, there are some very good tips in there that i will do.
Im nearly on day 5 and still not had a puff, ive had no cravings yet for a cigarette but i think this is down to the niquitin lozenges, the nurse told me to have one an hour for the first month i tried this for the first day and it made me feel quite sick so im having around 8 max a day. My OH has now given up too he's not had one for two days but he's constantly eating anything and everything.
  • AGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    I'm not feeling positive today.

I'm feeling tired, depressed, miserable and bored bored bored of not smoking.

Coming off the patches on Monday, I just want to get the nicotine out of my system altogether now and get on with my life.

Oh why did I start this wretched habit? I feel like life isn't worth living at the moment (ok bit of an exaggeration).

    Grrrr.

I just wanted to pop on to say good luck to everyone who is giving up the dreaded weed. Ive smoked for over 15 years and had my final fag 3 weeks ago and havent smoked since. Ididnt want patches or anything as I felt it would mean more nicotine in the system longer  Dont know if this is true , but Im finding it easier than I thought it would be although my house is tidier than ever- just keep busy!

ME & OH have saved over 150 in 3 weeks so far, why oh why did we not do it before :D One thing I would say is I have gone at it with the attitude of "its going to be easy" and amazingly it really is a lot easier than even i thought it would be, I smoked almost 15-25 a day for over 15 years.

What is everyone doing with the money? IS there a seperate "debt" pot for this, or anyone saving for anything special?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
