DreamingAloud I've reckoned on £2000 per year, between £150 and £170 per month anyway. Yikes!
I read the book and it didn't work for me - only for a couple of days. The clinic says the same but you are there having it (nicely) drilled into you by a real person for 5.5 hours. I think the book or DVD option would have worked for me if I had been able to sit down and do it in one sitting.
I got a good discount off, but it still cost a lot of money, but hey ho. I could have tried various other methods but I'm sure I would have been half hearted about it and within a month or so spent the money on fags that I have spent on the clinic.
Glad someone else is doing it this way too as I can't explain to people how it works.0 -

Yes, it was the right thing to do. After all, it is not a crutch, it never was. Who needs it?0 -
Ive worked out that I spent approx £160.00 + on fags a month. Now if someone would have said to me "you can afford to put £160.00 a month away " when I was smoking ,I would have said they were mad. But we always found money for fags didnt we ? I remember scrambling around everywhere, the bottom of my bag, the side of the sofa, coat and trouser pockets for change so I would have enough to buy just 10 fags when I was really skint. They were always my first priority, as long as I had fags I was okay , I would worry about other things later.
What a muppet I was !

I have been quit for 1 Week, 4 Days, 4 hours, 26 minutes and 17 seconds (11 days). I have saved £64.44 by not smoking 279 cigarettes. I have saved 23 hours and 15 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 16/03/2009 07:450 -
I got to the point chrissy where I was always feeling skint but felt like I could never, ever say that to anyone because how can you be skint when you're spending £5.63 on a pack of fags? (£5.83 at the Co-op).0

Yes isnt it mad ? I would get all giddy if I managed to bag myself a bargain, and I would try and save money in all areas of my life, but still relentlessly forked out stupid amounts of money for something that would probably end up killing me . How bizarre !0

Hi again Tisme! I wondered what had happened to you, but now you bounce on telling us you're on DAY 20!!! Good Heavens above! You still sound so thrilled by your lotty - but - you went too mad at it, I'll bet a bob! Rest up and DON'T go back to it until you're really better - right?! Well done in getting rid of the patches, not doing too badly with the inhalator either, but little by little let it go down as soon as you're able then you'll be free from nicotine!!! Coffee doesn't aid sleep! Try drinking chocolate and get well soon, but NOT too soon!
Hi Lotus Eater and welcome to the thread and to the start of your non smoking life! Naomi's advice is great, take note of all she suggests as you really need to try anything and everything that will help you to helpyourself. A Dr once told me that it's the cigs that cause us to be stressed, I didn't believe him til I quit, but I soon realised how right he was. We have one in the morning and as soon as the nicotine hits in it it sparks up the stress. Exercise is a great way to take away empty feelings and stressful ones - if you get them. Remember, itchiness, restlessness is not stress, it's either the cravings (until 3 days sees nicotine out of our systems) or our minds still messed up a bit after years of the perils of cigs. I'll send you a PM to see if it'll help a little.
Good to hear you're little sweetheart's progressing whathavewedone, always good to hear!
Shelley, I know you desperately want to keep on the champix, but why not ask your Dr about the amount of nausea/bordering sickness you're getting. It concerns me that it maybe your body's way of saying 'this is no good for you'. I congratulate you for your great determination, but do be careful please!
Hi Chris, I'll have another go with a PM in a mo, but don't worry, you're not the only one who's baffled by puters, I'm having huge problems with mine and am now on hubbie's. Not so good as mine though!
Well done on a week free as well as a brilliant attitude SandC!!! keep up the terrific work!
Another one with a great attitude AND in double figures now (!!!) is you Dreamingalound!! I do hope you can entice your OH to save with you, think of the wonderful health you'll get for married life as well as bulging pockets! To answer your question, it's not me being early with my posts - it's me being way too late at times, especially yesterday morning!!! I'm from dear old England, not abroad, though at times I'd love to be, just for a holiday. Glad you find the advice and support helpful. I just want for everyone that wishes to quit, the wonderful peace of mind that I now have as I worried myself sick about all the illnesses assciated with this terrible habit. My Sis-in-law recently died from one and that was tragic! I'm thankful every day for having given up, my family too! Keep it up Dreamingalound and recall the words above when you're on holiday with your smoking family members! I really hope they follow your lead as you are a wonderful example!!
Hi mazza, wonderful news that you're on your way and so determined to succeed. Keep thoughts of your feelings now in the forefront of your mind and you'll win through and achieve your dream! We have so many quitters here right now and just about all of them hell-bent on being a success story! That £840 pa will be a terrific saving!
Congratulations EVERYONE!!! :T You're all doing marvellously, even those of you who have just started out, you've started rather than still thinking about it, well done!! Have a wonderful weekend folks and whatever you do breathe plenty of fresh air deeply into your lungs and burst out the last remnants of any of the rubbish within them!
Water, BIG apples, exercise and hobbies! All will keep you from cravings AND putting on pounds!
Sue
