Hey Fay- you are absolutely not stupid, look what you do, work, PhD, kids, house, relationships.......I'm exhausted just thinking about it, I think you are phenomenal.

Bis-you're back!!!!! Hurrah!!!!! I always worry when Captain Bismark disappears for a while, and GC for that matter- you are our rocks guys.

Talking of rocks, Molly, I am starting to feel so emotional about your achievement, you are just incredible, well done and thank you so much for all the support you've given me and everyone else on here. You are a warm, caring, wonderful person and I'm so pleased you joined this thread-a lot of us couldn't tackle our demons without your input, and I am really really grateful. Enjoy tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is OK tonight- catch you later.

never really away, just making amends at home and appreciating what I've got.

on top of the obvious benefits, my philosophy has changed so much.....feel a bit like the Ancient Mariner sometimes.....

Well, ONE YEAR of no alcohol and I see a different person in the mirror. My eyes no longer look dull and vacant, they actually have a little sparkle and my skin doesn't look like uncooked pastry anymore. I feel that I have won a battle but not yet the war. Hope everyone else is at the point they want to be, I never want to be that person I was, I have been tempted but I just think back to what I had become. The sun is shining at the moment and I feel good and want to continue to have the sun in my life.

    This says it all.

Thanks Guys......I couldnt have done it without you.

(I dont normally like to name names for fear of missing someone out but would like to say special thanks to Bismarck for his words of wisdom, also Jo, BHB and Lurky who have been there since the beginning, and also InSearchOfMe for starting the thread.)

Night night, sleep tight.See you tomorrow.
    All my Love

ETA Thanks for all your good wishes.

stop it, molly, I'm getting emotional!

enjoy the day, remember that each day that comes now you've been through before in the cycle - no more "this is my first christmas, bank holiday, easter, wedding anniversary etc"...but remember constant vigilance...a year on doesn't make it any more safer out there, it's you that's a bit stronger and experienced.

went to a free drinks do recently and was actually nervous before I went as it ticked so many boxes of danger....hell I felt good that I could go in there and do it and come out unscathed. I'd turned down the invite previously because I wasn't reasy for the trial.

    seriously,

well done...I'm so pleased for you.:j

    Good morning all

    Happy AF Birthday Molly!!!!!!!!!:T:T:T:T:T

Molly, you are amazing. I can't ever imagine me going a whole year without having alcohol. Hopefully one day I WILL manage it. In the meantime, well done you!!!!!

    40SM - I forgot to say welcome!

Fay - don't let one slip up make you feel stupid. You are NOT stupid. I dread to think of all the times I've done this over the years. I too don't have that "stopping" mechanism. One glass and I'm hooked for the rest of the bottle (and sometimes even the next one). Its like I want that "first glass" feeling to carry on. EDIT just saw your last post...oi you, stop the "only" 3 days AF thing!! You are doing brilliantly....imagine how many it would have been before????

((hugs)) to everyone who's struggling. I do think the nice weather makes us all want to run headlong into a pub garden! Resist the urge everyone (or at least only order a lemonade ;))!!!!

    Miss P
    xx

WoW mollypolly - a whole year without a drink - that's an awesome achievement.
I'm guessing that you feel rather marvellous today - well done, I am impressed. What have been the biggest changes for you?

And Bismark, how do you mean about your philosophy changing - is that just due to being a non-drinker?

Budget Babe, thanks for the sympathy. I feel loads better today - went to bed early, AF, slept very well and now have energy and a clear head. I want to feel like his every morning and I suppose that not drinking in the evenings is the key to that!

So, now its 3AF day for me thank you Happyshopper.

Happy Birthday Jo, enjoy your day.

    Have a good day folks,

...but hauling myself up by the bootstraps to have first April AF day today...I hope. I don't feel poorly, but rather weary. Feeling strong to be AF at the moment - it being rather early :D. Kudzu at the ready to take with lunch....

    wbf you about? you too?

Hi Winebox and everyone! Well I am feeling pleased with myself today as yesterday was my first April AF day - 1/10 for me please, Happy.

It feels good to be officially off the starting block although I had a bit of a wobble when OH was going to the shop and asked if I wanted wine. Yes, I mean no, errr yes, errr no thanks! Phew.

Friday and Saturday were fairly sozzled but on Sunday I had a half a pint of cider with my pub lunch as I was driving later. I really enjoyed it at the time and thought I'd open wine when I got home but didn't bother and then the next day felt it was a waste to 'only' drink a little. I really need to knock that thinking on the head!

Well done to Molly Polly for a whole year and thanks for sharing this here with us.

    And Happy Birthday Jo!!

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Morning all.
Well, sadly, still no AFD's for me:o:o However, I am still feeling really pleased with myself because I have mangaged to cut down instead.
Went shopping with DD yesterday and passed H&B - couldn't find Kudzu and was almost too embarrassed to ask! However, bought a bottle and tried it last night. I don't care if the effect is only psychological (sp:o) it seemed to do the trick (or maybe I WANTED it to do the trick) Anyhow, I would normally open the bottle at about 4'ish, but sat in the garden, got dinner underway, watered the veg plot - and still no wine! A long-term treat is to sit and watch Neighbours ( I know, I need to get out more!) with a glass, then a top up at the ad break because that signals the end of the day and the beginning of the evening. Last night, one glass lasted the whole episode. I had another glass with dinner and then just didn't fancy any more.

So, although it was not AF it was CD day 2 for me.

Grahame Carter, hi and how are you doing? You too have been a little quiet, or is it that I am just a chatterbox ;) Ok I think I know the answer, but I do hope that you are ok? Hugs xxxxx
    Very Well thx my dear.
All is ok, I am still AF, still nicotine free, and Easter is coming!!

I have started going to the gym after a 3 year hiatus, and while it hurts like hell, I feel great. Energy levels are high, and that seems to make me happy.

Keep up the good work Budgie - I don't think you realise how valuable your posts are to people. I for one greatly appreciate your effort.
I imagine that by helping others stay AF, it helps you stay AF. Getting out of our own heads is good for us it seems.
    Take care

    AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOLLY POLLY
Constant vigilance - here's to next year!!!
