Well, feeling a bit hungover this morning, definitely too much wine last night. Doh. So Monday 6th April at the latest for getting off the starting block. Will see how the weekend goes too. I'm feeling a bit sad about the shutdown here as I am likely to be at home alone for some or all of the weekend. Will have to organise stuff.
Glasgow girl, that made me laugh and wince too, I've had exactly that dilemma and was too embarrassed to actually do it. Plus the idea of chugging a second one straight away as was feeling a bit full too! Although my Mum will often offer me her almost full glass of wine or champagne if we're out for a special occasion family meal. And I never refuse. Unless I'm driving. Unlike the rest of us she doesn't like to overindulge because it gives her heartburn. Although some types of wine are much less likely too than others.0 -
I never leave a glass of wine either if I am eating out. I can easily do it at home as I just put it in the fridge :rotfl: :rotfl:  but if you pay good money for a bottle of wine in a restaurant you don't want to waste it really
My dilemma on Sunday is that the first place we are staying at has a bottle of champagne in the room on arrival. It is a good bottle of champagne and I am not leaving any of thatthen in the evening we are eating in their restaurant where the wine list is like a Bible. I wonder if we can order it by the glass there? Something tells me it isn't the sort of place where they like you to order by the glass
We shall see
Have a lovely day everyone xx0 -

Hello All
Sorry I haven't been around for the best part of a week
I'm afraid I missed my tartget anfd after my last post only had 2 more AF days so my result for March was 9/13 - not bad considering I only started on 15th March but it would have been so nice to have hit target. It is also more AF days then the whole of 2008 so I fel pretty good about that
NTC - if possible can you amend your final posting - don't worry if you can't, and mega thanks from me for keeping the scores and your very nice final comment.
Lillibet - it's not easy and don't beat yourself up if you have a slip - the important thing is that you recognise you have a problem and are here trying to deal with it.
GC - thanks for your words of wisdom, I'm with you on the booze in the house, if it is there I will drink it. Having said that, I have lots of spirits in the house for cooking - Brandy, Pernod but I wouldn't dream of drinking them. I'm strictly a red wine or champagne girl
HappyShopper - thanks for keeping the scores for April - could I have a target of 15 for this month please?
40something - welcome and well done on your achievements so far
Parisgirl - hello as well
Eselt - thank you for sharing your story:eek: - wow, you have come back so well, you must be a really strong person. Sorry you lost so much in your journey.
I remember about 2 years ago I had a member of staff who was drinking too much, she was a receptionist and so had a very public role. She used to buy a bottle of vodka on her way into work and drink it through the day. It was pretty obvious to everyone what was going on. I tried to help her, support her etc, took her to the Doctors, drove her home but in the end I had to go down the dsciplinary route. I really couldn't understand why she just couldn't hang on until 5.00 and then drink whatever she wanted. I was advised by her Doctor and our Occ Health that I wasn't helping her and that I had to let her hit her personal rock bottom and deal with the problems herself. By this stage she had lost her husband, house and daughter
Fortunately she saw the writing on the wall jobwise and resigned before we dismissed her. I do wonder what happened to her and hope she got herself back on track.
Budgetbabe - thank you for your posts and for thinking about me. I wasn't around last weekend and didn't like to post here from my friends computer. I was on a residential course this week for 3 days staying in a very nice hotel, unlimited wine with and after dinner.
I am sorry to say I made the most of it and did I suffer.
I only drank 4 glasses of wine on both evenings but I felt so rough the next days - I would have normally been able to drink at least double that without any effects so the tolerance must be diminishing rapidly.
I did plan to log on here once I got to the hotel but internet access was £7 connection and £15 per day - WOW
I am pleased to say I took some Kudzu yesterday on the way home and had an AF day yesterday, I have also taken some today as bell ringing starts around now - the bells must have the mufflers on as I can't hear anything. That stuff really works well for me, it's just the Holland and Barrat stuff for me. However the day isn't over yet so I am currently 1/15 (Note HappyShopper) for this month and hoping by tomorrow I will be 2/15 - but will report back tomorrow
Jo1972 - glad to see you're back with us, falling off is awful and it can be difficult to get back on - I admire your target

Whats Kudzu and is it easy to get or do you need a presciption?
just After ideas for OH
Thanks NiallSpending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
Kudzu is a herby thing you can get from various places, easiest place for me is H and B.
It's about £7.50 for 60 which is about 30 days supply, the ones I got were 500mg
Take it about half an hour before the bells start ringing.
It seems to work for some people, I am just fortunate that it works for me, there is still some temptation but it's not there constantly on AF days as it was before I started taking the stuff.
I only drink in the evening - my habit is to buy a bottle after work and then polish it off over the course of the evening, I also buy 2 bottles at weekends and have one on Sat evening and one on Sunday evenings - sometimes at weekends I start too early and end up having 2 bottles - that was my trigger for getting on here and trying to sort myself out.
Others on here know far more than me, I think Fayjmck ( :hello: Hiya gal - left you off my list - sorry) is a Botanist and on one of her earlier posts she went into what it was about, for a brief period we thought it contained cannabis but she soon set us straight - you may find her info if you trawl through her old posts
Talk to Mrs Niall and see if she's willing to give it a try
