TRC, now that is one impressive igloo!! Well done! Was it cold inside, don't they say that igloos are warm (though that might be in the antartic where they shielded from the wind

No it was quite warm inside, the snow was starting to melt which was useful for "cementing" the higher bricks in

Thanks for the advice on the photos :T

Did anyone see This Morning today? They had a cardiologist on who solved his drink problem with a pill. It was quite interesting. He said he was an anxious sort of person and this anxiety led him to drink too much. He realised his anxiety was making him drink but other doctors said that it was the drink that was making him anxious. But he knew that when he stopped drinking he was still anxious and the only thing that stopped this was to drink alcohol. He takes a pill (you can only get it on prescription) that stops anxiety and therefore stops you wanting a drink.

If you go to the This Morning website you will see on the main page "Alcoholism Cure?" which tells you what he said.

I could see it working because the tablets my own doctor has prescribed for me make you relaxed and I no longer want a drink when taking them. My particular tablets aren't the answer because they are addictive and also slow your reactions so that you can't drive or operate machinery. But if you could find another tablet that did the same thing without these side affects then it would be great!

  • Welcome Stroppy,

Its very supportive on here, I've found it a great help hope you do too.

WB can you put me down for 18 tomorrow as AF tonight after took 2 nights to finish a half a bottle of wine off otherwise I would have been over my target by now if I'd not opened it on Sunday  ho hum!

Looks like I won't get a jumpy star after all as OH is back tomorrow and will have a few drinks then (he is not a big drinker at all so really will be a few) maybe squeeze an AFD on Sat if not never mind got another 4 more days than Jan

    Thanks for replies :-)

I know its all habit and just need to break it.....What frustrates me is OH can take or leave both the smoking and drinking,I announced the big fact I had given up this afternoon to him and bless he put away his ashtray and hasnt had one since, nothing could make me feel any worse now though as I sit here smoking away, lol, tonight I have finished a full bottle of wine which I rarely do in the week(school morning and all that).
I would like to put myself down for 10 alcohol free days in March if thats ok and tomorow is a new day with the smoking......determined not to have that first one in the morning.
    Nice to meet you all

Hi all- hi stroppy- no pressure on this thread, just supportive people willing others to succeed and acheive their goals/aims. Basically, have a good go at what you want to acheive, stumble a bit and we'll help, relapse and we are here, live your life and we'll be thrilled. For some godforsaken reason I've had a baileys craving tonight, never drank it when I was a full blown alcoholic so can't reason why I shoud crave it now.

Hope eveyone is OK tonight, best of luck- eselt

    Evening all :)

Welcome Stroppy and well done for reading and posting :) You will get tons of support on here whether you wanna stop or cut down. Have a think about how many days you might want to achieve AF in March and set your target, if you've read the thread from the start (or even the old one!) then you'll know that I have decided on 31 of 31 days next month, me and drink don't get on :D Good luck and keep posting :)

Hiya Heath, thanks for popping back in, how you doing?

NTC/Budgie, thanks for the star! It's appreciated :)

Hiya to everyone else, hope you're all good?

Had a wobbly drive home with the beer bell clanging around in my brain, but luckily the rational brain was louder and I got home beer-less...plus it was parents evening so had to dash straight out to that and had DD1 in the car so couldn't stop off anyway...though to be honest, by the time I got home and picked her up, I'd forgotten all about it and I've been fine since I got in. Had a quick mouthful of cold orange squash as soon as I got in and made sure dinner was a quick one so I didn't loiter inthe kitchen!!

So this is 5 consecutive days for me now and I'm feeling quite proud of myself! :j :j :j

Going to bed now, so speak to you all tomorrow xx

  • :hello: Stroppy

You've come to the right place. Post away with whatever you need to say. I have found it very helpful to share my thoughts with people who are supportive. Most of my friends have just scoffed at what I've been doing which is a shame.

    Winebox - 1 jumpy please :D:D:D 12/12

Didn't think I'd do it this month which would have made me a bit :o after an impressive (for me) 29/31 in January. But one way or another, I've scraped in under the wire. Won't be AF tomorrow but Saturday may be up for grabs.

Take it easy people, the weekend is just around the corner and after the week I've had...boy, am I looking forward to it.
