I think the Slimming World lot must have heard about GP's lardloss and decided to join us lovely people!!! Good advice though, about low-cal drinks.

Welcome Lilith. I'm a 'cutter-down' too and also keeping targets to myself. Do you and OH only drink on 'special' occasions like evenings out and weekends? My plan is not to drink on ordinary evenings at home as I had been in the habit of opening a bottle every evening at 6pm (watching the clock so I could start). I love nothing more than drinking in the kitchen while I'm getting supper ready. Trouble is I'm a fast drinker too and half a bottle would be gone, often before 6.30 p.m. OH has noticed but he's pleased. Perhaps if you told OH you were just cutting down to lose a few pounds he wouldn't feel it was a veiled criticism of his drinking habits?

I like the theory that living in the South makes us big drinkers, although doesn't explain why so many Geordie friends on here!!

    Thanks for the welcome guys.

Yeah I'm gonna be careful not to replace the alcohol with sugary drinks like J20 - sugar in a bottle or what!

I can imagine it will be quite hard because most of my friends are pretty heavy drinkers (I guess like I am/was) but maybe I will be given strength from the fact that I'll wake up with a clear head and they'll all wake up feeling carp! :rotfl:

Plus, the amount of money I'm going to be saving will be a great incentive too :D

    Hope your drive OK Jo.

Never done slimming world (& it shows) but I guess a mint feast must make it a green day & double deckers must be a red day:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Its worth a read back on the thread Lilith, I think most of us have suffered with the problem of those around us. Personally I have chosen to tell people I am on a detox and have mostly a good response (hope they dont see all the creme egg wrappers in the bin) and I was honest with a couple of people I am really close to. People will only scoff your goal if they are questioning their own drinking imo and actually those I have decided to tell have universally come back with support and in a couple of cases a confession that they feel they do drink too much as well.;)

Its strange really when I gave up smoking I met with universal support when I look to cut down drinking I met some resistance:confused: says a lot about our society I suppose.

Get yourself a goal for all that money you are saving, reward is a fab motivations:D
