Well done pbt :D You really do deserve some choklit tonight!!

Funny, I work in a school as well and had a god awful day (something about working round kids and drinking too much??!). I had a child today that's being seriously neglected by his alcoholic mother, it upsets me everytime I see something happen with that family cos I know how close I've got and could be to it myself :(

So cos of this I've been struggling tonight, big time. I'm getting through it, just made a coffee and looking forward to my double decker that's chilling nicely in the fridge.

Congrats to everyone who are doing so well.

    Bis ((()))

    YM where are ya??

    Everyone else

  • pbt - really admire your resolve. Fantastic that you managed to skip the wine. Enjoy your choccie!

Went swimming today and it really helped take the edge off the wine craving.

Also, not sure if anyone else has tried this one but I suffer a bit from eczema - just minor irritation and not in a place anyone can see, but when people have been asking why I'm not drinking this week I've been saying it's cos I've had a flare-up and alcohol makes it worse. Seems to be working well - no one's making a fuss about me not drinking.

    xx

Have you tried a camomile tea bag in the bath....supposed to help with eczema. Dumbass me has no chocolate in the house........so have eaten 6 satsumas instead!

I so agree about these tragic families we come across........isn't the saying But for the grace of god go I. Did anyone see the one show last night? Talking about the rise in problem drinking in women 25-40. DS asked what misuse meant...i told him. Then he said 'Well its good you aren't drinking wine anymore' i would love to get to a place where i could use alcohol rather than abuse it but for now I think I'm better off just not drinking at all.

So 21/22 AF days for me.

Hi all- well done tonight, great resistance in difficult circumstances- you should all be very proud and enjoy that chocolate (or...eeerm...those yummy satsumas?). I saw the one show last night, when the grandmother was describing her daughters drinking I had to switch over- it was just like I used to be, and the shames a bit too raw yet to see it all played out on the TV.

Hope everyone is OK tonight and where you want to be.

Similar day...had issues with my DS. But also work at a school where we have a high percentage of special needs kids. One 'kicked off' today...chairs flew etc etc. Then angry parent to deal with. So yes it's not drowning my sorrows, it is that numbness i want.

from the one therapy type session I had back in December 2006, the thing that sticks with me is that when I mentioned drinking too much, the lady said "alcohol is a depressant".

I already knew this really but chose not to listen then and for another 6 months because of its hold on me. And of course Bismarck knew best !

We are conned into the images of it being the source of all the good times and yet it's not the essential ingredient at all - in the most cases it's just a coincidence.

Do other people have those thirsty dreams? I haven't had one in a while probably because I haven't been drinking as much lately.

If' I've gone to bed after a proper skinful and not drank water I'll generally be totally parched by morning, and quite often I'll dream I'm chugging down a massive bottle of coke, but it's not actually quenching my thirst at all.

It's real torture! I'll drink the entire bottle but still be thirsty (obviously, because in real life I am!)

Another one for me Lurkio, so 21/22 and another staggering low point on the scales this morning too... 18 stone 3

I'm actually quite annoyed at all the time I've waster at the gym now - all I've been doing is burning off the previous nights beer! At least now it's actually lard thats coming off

    Still, got to laugh, eh?

OMG I forgot my double decker!!!! I was so busy playing poker on the puter (and actually winning rather than being worse for wear and unable to see half the cards!) that I forgot the choklit!!!

    Now, that has never happened!

Im half way through the Allan Carr Easyway to Control Alcohol book, its really opened my eyes. I hadn't concidered how good a con artist alcohol is, that really its a poison that dehydrates us then convinces us to drink more because we are thisty.

Anyway Im feeling much better tonight, No alcohol today so 10 AFD's for me
    please Lurky.

    Hope everyone is well tonight

    Mari xx
