I had a bar of dairy milk a few days ago. For some reason I'd not had any chocolate for weeks (not got much of a sweet tooth to be honest) but the abstinance made it taste divine.
I'm going to have twix during my morning coffee break tomorrow...i deserve it.
Reet, off to bed now. Sweet dreams everyone

Weekend starts tomorrow - aiming for 250ml mini bottle of red both nights and stopping at that. Excited about it - I feel positive I can do this.

from the one therapy type session I had back in December 2006, the thing that sticks with me is that when I mentioned drinking too much, the lady said "alcohol is a depressant".
Yep, alcohol certainly is a depressant, but its worse than that, it sucks your motivation, your ability to function, to work, have a normal family life, knackers your health and skin, costs a fortune and makes you put on weight......even as few as 3-4 alcohol free days will make you feel brighter, healthier, more enthusiastic about life, give you energy, help you eat properly, and generally boost your confidence and self esteem and make you a much nicer person to be around. In other words alcohol takes all the best things about you and squeezes the life out of them and eventually just leaves you with a depressed, anxious, unhealthy shell. Its only now I have come back from the 'dark side', that I realise for most of 2006-7 I was just existing, and now I have my life back no chemical whether legal or illegal is ever going to shut me down again.
Fantastic results from everyone- I'm drinking grapefruit and soda tonight, DS made it with a little cocktail umbrella and some fruit shaped ice in it!- and its really nice.0 -

Good to know I'm not the only one on here that's keeping their targets to themselves. It does make it harder in some ways but I do feel a bit smug.
Tonight I had a planned tea-time meeting with colleagues but venue was changed to the pub. When I arrived and they asked what I wanted to drink I could tell they were expecting me to say 'large Shiraz, please' but I settled for a cup of tea! So I've managed another AF day (total now 10/13). This evening I've had lots of water, a couple of glasses of pop (diet lemonade left over from Christmas) and just had my hot choc.
TRC, Saturday night's a real dilemma. Social occasions like that are when I most enjoy drinking. Whatever you decide you've cut down immensely and proved to yourself you can be AF when you want.
Well done those of you who resisted a 'drowning the sorrows' drink tonight.
I'm jumping off now, will lurk over the weekend and see you all next week. Have a good one! Mx0 -

I would say that alcohol itself is not evil. I don't think a bottle of vodka is a bad thing , nor a can of lager. I just think it is a bad thing when it is in me. It feeds the 'bad Graeme' , and causes fear, isolation, anxiety, selfishness, and overall bad judgement. If I don't pick up that 1st drink, the 'bad' part of me stays dormant.
Note that the bad part of me is always there - I just try not to bring it out and feed it. I cannot kill it. However, I can make the decision not to nourish it with alcohol.
If I can concentrate on the good me - the kind, honest, hard-working, selfless Graeme, then I am happier, and it makes it harder for the bad graeme to emerge.
Sorry, I am going on, but I needed to write that down, and feel better for it0 -
You are not going on GC. It does you good to see it in writing.
I know for myself I am trying to get it into my head that just because I am not drinking ATM that there is nothing to look forward to. There is loads to enjoy and I need to adjust my brain to accept this matter. I did it with the smoking so can do it with this.
See feel better already
