Hi Everyone,
I have joined MSE after looking at this thread for several days. Just had my lightbulb moment after being in denial for several years. DH left his management job a little over a year ago due to stress levels and so took a job on half the pay. I am working 30 hrs pw and am now the major wage earner. Consolidated cc and od about 18mths ago and now have built them up again due to very large car bills (we have to run 2 cars). I'm panicking now!!!
CC about £3500, od £4000 and loan £9000 on top of mortgage. Think my job is fairly safe (although you never can tell) but DH's is precarious.
Gonna list loads of stuff on ebay tomorrow and will try PaD of £10. Really wanna get us out of this mess asap.
Any help or advice welcome. I think you are all great, been reading your stories and looking at your signatures, you are real inspirations.LBM O/D £4300, CC £3,450, Next £350, Loan £9200:eek:  :eek:PaD Joined 14/2/09 £194.01:T£2 coins for Xmas 2009 Target £200 - £16:ANSD Feb 09 9/10:cool:NSD Mar 09 10/160 -
The first thing to do would be to start a thread on the main DFW page, and post an SOA to see if you can save money anywhere.... I think people use www.makesenseofcards.com to post an SOA...
Welcome to MSE and PAD, you are among friends and fellow debtors here

Hi All
Haven't made a PAD for a few days, so PAD today of £15.00.
This includes £7 from Amazon plus my daily PADS for the last few days.
My A&L card 0% is due to finish in April, but at the beginning of the 0% they mucked up my first payment and ever since then they've been charging me interest. I've had to call them month after month to get it back, which they've done, but despite their assurances that it'll be ok next month, it never is.
So, as usual I've been charged interest this month, so will have to give them a call again. I'm thinking this time tho that I'll ask them to extend the 0% period for another six months 'as a gesture of goodwill' on their part. What do you think? Do you think they'll go for it?
Nothing ventured, nothing gained, I guess!

Hi and Welcome!!
Well done for posting and taking the first steps to being free of the debts :T
Have you thought about posting your SOA (Statement of Affairs) on the main Debt Free Wannabe board? More people will see it, and you will get loads of advice about where you can cut back. Once you make those cutbacks you will have lots of spare money for PAD
PAD is all well and good (All well and amazing to be honest!) but posting a SOA is essential to really help you see where you can make those savings.
Welcome again!

Try it! Consider it compensation for all the calls you've had to make! In fact, if you were being really shirty, you could write a complaint to them requesting back the cost of all the calls you've made. I had cause to make a complaint to Sainsburys CC a couple of months ago, and I got back what I had asked for, plus £50 compensation fo rthe hassle, so it was well worth the price of a stamp!

- Explain when the original error occurred
- If it's not an 0800 number you have had to call, all the better
- Send them a copy of your phone bill for those months showing the amounts you have had to pay to fix their error
- Keep to the facts, don't get "emotional" and blame anyone, just mention the inconvenience you have had to put up with, the time it has taken you to sort it out etc
- Finally, close the letter with something like:
Blahblahblah.
I am currently trying to think of a nicer way to say "Gimme more interest-free or I'm off"....0 -

I feel that it would be suitable for my interest-free period to be extended for another six months to compensate me for the inconvenience.
In order to compensate me for the time I have spent calling you to ensure that my interest-free period is applied correctly, I would appreciate it if this interest-free period could be extended for another six months.
I dunno really, tweak as required!!0 -
Hi
Thanks for the advice Sarah & F-F! I think you're right, a letter would be better than a phone call, so I'll draft something up tomorrow and send it on Monday. I haven't got the cost of calls, because I made some of them from work! But in any event, they'll have a record of the calls, cos every time I phone they know what I'm talking about!
I'll ask for repayment of my call costs, an inconvenience payment and an extended 0% period so that "they can show me they can do it right"!
Thanks!
