LondonAndy - i'd forgotton that we don't pay council tax or water rates in February or March. I really do need to get a life as that's got me very excited!!!:rotfl:

My aim now is to save up a months mortgage / direct debits payments - when i've done that i'll save up another months. Ideally i'd like to have three months saved up just incase. When I've done that i'll throw money at the mortgage which I want to pay off before i'm fifty...{ten years} :rotfl: xx

As the mother of two 18 year old twins who both have cars they saved for the cars themselves and I paid for the insurance the first year. Be glad you have a girl because my son's insurance was almost twice that of his sister. This year I have again paid for the insurance but they are paying me back weekly. Also note it was cheaper to have fully comprehensive insurance than 3rd party fire and theft. Also the insurance goes up when they pass their test because they are considered more of a risk than when they have someone supervising them. My two did the Pass plus (I am glad they did for extra confidence)but for them it made no difference to their car insurance although some insurance co do take it into account. Follow Martin's advice about insurance quotes and cashback. For your info insurance for my two with one year no claims was £380 (with cashback) for my daughter and £720 (no cashback available) for my son. So your daughter has to realise it is not just buying the car but repairs and running costs as well. Both cars are under 1litre by the way and valued at £1500.

    Hope that helps.

I have a feeling it may be dankosheema's post that caused the big pages  dont know if its just on my screen but all posts by dankosheema are in centre, not aligned to the left (if you see what i mean?? ). Just a thought though not definate!!!
