Yay for Mudbath! That is brilliant and I'm so happy for you - what a lovely relief. And really what a great ad for PAD - to be able to pay that off in one go because you'd kept all the smaller payments going in, and now to keep it up is so right! You're doing exactly what I plan to do - yay for you.
More pennies in the pot for me. I'm planning to go to the bank later today but depends on the decorating and how fed up I get with it.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Also, another £1.05 for me. Spare money (Hah!) in my bank account and as I get paid tomorrow I have taken the balance to zero. Woo!0 -
Helloooooo!
No PAD for a few days as I have DD's coming out tomorrow that is going to take me stupidly overdrawn!!!! xxxxCompetition wins in 2009 - Nothing so far0 -
YAAAY!! Car passed MOT, what a relief. I had a sleepless night worrying about huge garage bills....I can really recommend the Council Centres. Apparently I had a small hole in my exhaust which the mechanic sealed with putty to hold it [don't tell anyone!!] and also a tyre needs replacing because it's on the legal limit for tread depth, so will have to get that seen to - or, I was wondering, can I put my spare on the front if it's not worn? Then I could replace the spare when there is a little more wiggle room in my budget. The tyre is not illegal, just almost! [or is that like being a little bit pregnant....] Any advice from those in the know mechanically much appreciated.
PAD yesterday £2.00. Need to have conversation with DD about state of finances, she seems to think that I really have money and can afford things and am just 'being mean'... I don't want to panic her, but when she staretd showing me £4,500 cars on the Internet which is what she wants when she passes her test, I did get a bit nervous. Thank goodness I had made a trip to Asda'a '3 bottles of wine for £10.00' aisle earlier, so could pour myself a steadying glass...I have always tried to give her what she wants, you see, and while I know this isn't a good tack it was, in a way, to compensate for the problems between her and her father [my ex]. Still, it's coming back to haunt me now....I think that if I can face things on this board then I can face things with her, you are all so supportive and doing so well.
Any advice from parents of spendaholic 17 year olds??!!
Have a good day!0 -
Hi mmy,
It is probably just that she doesn't know the value of money - I didn't have a flipping clue when I was that age (Some would say I still don't!)
Maybe you and her could work out a deal where you each pay for a portion of the car? Also, sitting down with her and explaining the budget will be good for both of you.
I don't think she will be that surprised as there is coverage of the economy every day on the news and in the papers!0
