thekidneybean.wordpress.com/.../ has a picture and the pattern for the star blankets they really are so easy and quick to make if anyone wants to try them, they really are beautiful when they are finished and are a little different.

Shezmit there is a parcel ready for you with a star blanket 5 squares and 2 booties I'll post it monday.

I'll try and pop in and out as have to finish college work (been putting it off) lol

Have read all the various posts. However, my ladies' group has a lot of problems knitting for charity. Although we always use certified stuffing for teddies, we have had a lot of refusals under Health & Safety regulations. We knit blankets, but many are often refused for charities, unless we are prepared to sell them for £1 or so in a charity shop. We have sent numerous blankets to Africa, only to discover (purely accidentally) that our blankets were not going to where we expected.

We have knitted items for premature babies, but never received acknowledgements.

We love knitting, we are not too bad at it, but we enjoy the social contact of our meetings. We are not fancy knitters, just k1p1 but it seems that no-one really wants our contributions. Would be grateful for any addresses of organisations that would accept our contributions.

Shezmit - I'll be taking most of my knits to my local hospital, but I'll post the buntings to you when I have a few more as they were not on the list you sent me of things they need.

Hi Bristow - what a sad post. We have never had anything refused or returned, so I think you would do well to send your items to the groups we send ours to; they are always grateful and very appreciative, and your donations will not be refused. Our knitted and crocheted things we send either to Loving Hands www.lovinghands.org.uk or to Preemies UK, and everything is sent to where it is most needed. Loving Hands distributes both here and overseas, and also has lots of challenges where they ask for particular things, and Preemies UK distributes to premature baby units, and will also tell you what is needed by your local hospitals. Both groups take photos of the donated items and, on here, Shezmit, who runs Preemies UK, will always announce on here the parcels and items she has received.

In the past, we have sent squares to Operation Elderly Charity Stitchers and they would sew them into blankets. However, at the moment, they don't have enough sewer-uppers but they will happily take completed blankets.

I do hope that this information helps; I would hate to think that a willing group of knitters cannot find an outlet for their desperately needed items.

It would be great if you could join us here. As I say, we send our items to various places for them to distribute to the deserving causes, but we have a running total which is updated here every morning, and shows everyone's names and what they have made. Seeing the numbers mount up is great for all of us.
