I'd just like to ask what sort of wool does people used to knit you items? he reason i ask I went to the wool shop today and wanted to buy some baby dk and asked for the cheaper wool, the shop assistant asked me what I was knitting so I told her about this website and all that you do. She was so rude to me and told me I was using the wrong type of wool said I would be doing more harm to the prem babies than good and tried to sell me some for £6 a ball as she said it was better for their skin and told me I was thoughtless, I felt really upset and was nearly in tears once she had torn a strip off me and left empty handed, I don't have that much money but she made me feel like a right skin flint. So I just wanted to find out what wool your all using before I go else where for it. Sorry to moan I just felt really upset by her comment.Became debt free December 2022

wow nikki, what a rude woman you met:mad: , i can assure you i dont use £6 a ball wool its normal baby dk. i'm sure shelly who runs preemiesUK will be along to reasure you in a while, we send our donations to her for distribution and shes never told anyone there is a problem with their wool or criticised their donations in anyway. I certainly would't be visiting that shop again in fact the only contact i would have with them is to write a strongly worded letter to the manager/owner to say how rude and pushy the staff are (unless that was the owner:eek: ) She was obviously preying in your kind nature to try and get a bigger sale.
ignore her find a chemist or wilkinsons that sells nice baby wool DK and you get knitting:ASPC~12 ot 124

I wish I could meet this moron  Way to go to lose all of her custom.
I have paid no more than £1 for a 100 gram ball and it's lovely and soft. She's just been trying to wring more money out of you. Of course it would be lovely if we could all afford to buy the best, but we do what we can. Anyway, I read where they prefer acrylic because it's easier to wash, and most of the cheaper wool is acrylic.
My advice... Go to another shop!Totals: 30 Buntings, 2 Gowns, 13 Chalky Squares0 -
nikki, what a mean spirited woman - avoid her shop in future, there are masses of places to get your wool, have you Wilkies near you - they may have some [just seen that mrs moneypenny got there first- note to self - need to type quicker].The Hooligan Wooligan – age 9¾

OH MY GOD £6 per ball of wool that is . I don't pay more than a £1 per 100g, Double knitting wool is fine to use i normally but mine from Wilkinsons as its really soft,
I have never been told by a hospital that we are using the wrong wool i have had totally the opposite and they love the softest of the wool.
If you haven't got a wilkinsons by you i will be willing to get you some wool and post it to you but please don't buy £6 per ball that is mad.
Even when i go to charity shops i won't pay more than a £1 per 100gs, i do get quite a few bargains from my local charity shops as they all know what i do and now they have a box in the back just for me which they will put all wool they get into the box for me.

I do have a wilko's so will take a trip there tomorrow I just wanted to make sure I was using the right stuff, the stuff I was trying to buy off her was playtime baby dk knit which i used last yr for blankets for the hospital so thought that would be ok she had it on sale for 89p which last yr was £1 and knitted up fine. I might go in there tomorrow and just buy what I wanted in the first place as I thought that was a bargain. Just was gutted I was trying to do something nice and she tore a strip right off me looking at it now a she was nothing but a bully. The way i looked at it if I got the cheaper stuff there more I could give. So I will put on my nasty face and buy it anyway tomorrow lol
On the up side i did get some kids needles to make the booties and mittens on as the smaller size makes it quicker and easier, sadly they got stole but my six yr old and shes making squares as we speak lol Can't remember who wanted them but shes doing the 20 sts and 40 row squares, I have never seen her so quiet lolBecame debt free December 2022
