Wow, I think I need a lie down! Just catching up with all the updating and the newbies and I'm already worn out! Thanks to our great leader, Martin, for giving us another mention in his weekly email, and all of you 'oldies' for being so welcoming and helpful, we have lots more lovely newbies!

Welcome to PSSO, PJW123 and Jena - I hope you like it here! Please read the very first post on this thread for all the info and details but, if there's anything you are unsure of, please feel free to post - there's always someone around to help. As you can see from the posts, the established knitters and crocheters on here are a great bunch and the reason this thread is so successful. It's great to have so many newbies; just think how many lives we will be helping now!

Well - here goes with the latest amazing update!

Have a great day, everyone, and thank you for all your lovely items. This is going to be our best month ever!

    KathyXX

PLEASE NOTE: Thanks to everyone for such a good response to Chalky's appeal for the orphanage in Spain. Her SIL has arrived with all our items, and they have been delivered to the orphanage. Chalky has posted some great photos on page 27 of this thread. I think we will have made a big difference to a baby who arrived there with nothing; doesn't it make you feel good?!

LATEST UPDATE: Don't forget to let me know if I get these figures wrong - as some of you know, it's not difficult for me to make a complete hash of it!

Hi all. I've just been surfing and came across this gem of a post from our lovely Maytaurus, on the Special Occasions board - not strictly knitting (although there is some knitting in it!), she has put links to loads of ideas for Christmas. I've printed the post off to put in my 'yet-to-be-properly-organised' Christmas folder! Thanks Maytaurus, it must have taken you ages to put all the links in.

  • I'd love to join in too, please.:j

Knitted lots of Innocent hats in the past. Also, got a few bigger projects on the go, but I often work best on small quick stuff, so I'll be checking the front page for ideas. :)

shelly, woke up in the middle of the night and thought about your e-mail suggesting what might be needed by preemies uk - i remembered the subtle hint that you dropped and decided that i would make a few "baby squares" before i started on my small blanket.

so, only an hour before the shop opens and then i will get some pastel wool to knit your squares in. is size 4 needles okay or would you prefer smaller - if you let me knot the basic size of the square, i will try to match up with them. oh and by the way - well done to your son, what a trouper!

hi everyone, and welcome to all the newbies - i love this site, and have quite openly admitted that i am addicted! hope you become so too.

    have a lovely day.

  • Morning all

welcome again to all the newies that joined us yesterday and overnight:hello:
none of us bite and there really is no such thing as a silly question so if you arent sure of something or get stuck just make a posting and someone will soon be along to help.
There really are so many things needed out there its up to you what you knit and what charities you support - lots of info on the first page but if you find any other groups that you want to knit for feel free to mention them on here and have your work for them added to the totals. Also amounts are not important please dont feel intimidated at the rate some people produce items. We all knit at different rates and all have varying family circumstances that affect our knitting time. Even one item can make a huge difference and when all the totals get added together and we work as a team.....well all i can say is :T WOW just look what we are achieving:T

last night i did 1 vent hat to add to tomorrows update please Kathy

  • :rotfl: my boobs are on page 5 of this weeks pick me up magazine:rotfl:
maybe if id using stuffing i'd have got them on page 3;)

they've recently started a feature called "heres one i made earlier" so i sent a photo of the last batch of boobs i'd made for loving hands with a note mentioning their web address. might be worth giving it a try if your photo is printed you get £25 so that will help towards the cost of wool and postage

  • Hi all,
maybe it's me being daft (I blame baby hormones turning brains to porridge), but how big should squares be? Have read somewhere that they need to be 7" squares, and also 8" squares knitted on 4mm needles?

What size is best for Preemies UK shelley?

    Help!!!

    Dawn x
