Elaine, that must have been quite unsettling to wake up like that. Hope you sleep soundly tonight.
Have taken refuge in a vent hat this evening as was very indecisive - what am I like? Should be in bed by now as very tired and that isn't helping the decision making processes, but I'll just do another couple of rows...

k2tog - I`m the same - indecisive is my middle name  I can never decide what to do next, it`s been hats for LH lately, but every time I get one finished...someone claims it ! First it was DGS with the blue / white one, the DS with the dark green one, then DGD decided she wanted the purple/white one. I started hiding them when I finished them so that no more could go astray.

Think I`ll have to do some baby things for a while until Lou puts up the new challenge in October, as I need a change - butterfly brain kicking in I think.

Off to bed now, hopefully no rude awakenings tonight.
Sleep tight.

Good morning everyone. With my visitors here, I'm MIA most of the time and I'm really missing being able to pop in here throughout the day. We have another busy day lined up today, as well as a busy evening wine-tasting at a local vineyard. Our visitors leave on Sunday morning and, in the afternoon, we are going to a fundraising book fair, so I think it will be Monday before things start getting back to normal, but I'm really looking forward to that.

Rachel - welcome to you. I see the others have given you a very warm welcome and pointed you in the direction of all the info. I hope you enjoy it here. Mama Rachel is welcome to join us, too!

Jean - I hope things are looking up for you now.

Lorna - I hope your family is getting a break from all the accidents and illnesses - you seem to have such a lot on your plate.

Elaine - how upsetting that must have been for you. Hope you managed to get a good night's sleep.

Orkney Star - that boob is brilliant!

Mrs Moneypenny - the school must have been delighted with the blanket. Well done to you!

F1 and Shaz - hope the bullying worries are easing up.

Well, I woke up early this morning (not the wine this time because we decided to have a break from it!) but too much tea too late at night, so I'm going to go back to bed for an hour, I think! Whilst I love having our visitors here, I think we're all longing to get back to normal! Can't wait to settle down early in the evenings and do a bit of crochet!

Will pop back later. Hope you all have a good day.

re; ‘I can never decide what to do next,’ hee-hee
you sound just like me with 2 monsters, a snowman, a baby jumper and a babys 1st xmas heart all on the go at once!

Feeling really upset at the moment
You all know about the probs around me and so this may sound really silly,
as I know there are so many terrible things going on in the world ... but you know how much I love animals and for the last few weeks I’ve been able to hear a puppy just crying quietly during the night and wondered where it was coming from
I didn’t think it would be my neighbours’ as they have a house which is always immaculate, I mean really ... it looks like something out of Cheshire Life or Homes & gardens, nothing around and not a speck of dust anywhere.
They have 2 little ones who are only allowed to have one thing out at a time to play with and a cat which never goes in the house, is fed etc outside
The cat situation made me sad enough but now they have got what I think is a Jack Russell pup and he’s permanently outside!!
When my daughter & I were having a coffee outside on Tuesday, he was tied on a rope in their garden & trying to get through the hedge to us
I didn’t go to him because I thought it would make him want to get to us even more!
Evidently he’s been in one of the out buildings since they got him and that’s where the crying has been coming from and that now he is bigger he is to be kept in a 5x5x5 enclosure they have made from fencing panels, so he can’t even see anything, or tied on a rope
He obviously can’t be expected to stay quiet every moment and he’s been barking and crying his little heart out in the early hours. They won’t be able to hear him as they sleep in the front of the house and never have any windows open
I just can’t understand why they’ve got this poor wee puppy to keep him like that???????
My 3 dogs keep going to him when he is tied up and trying to get through the hedge and rubbing noses and when he first started barking in the night they were naturally concerned and I had to tell them not to talk/bark to him
I was SOOOO cold here during the night & it is again tonight & foggy
I suppose I’m particularly emotional for lots of reasons at the moment but I just can’t stop thinking about him
Sorry I’ve gone on but I just had to tell someone how I feel .... and thought of you peeps!

I’d better post something relevant!.......

morning ladies

am up and ready for the gym, but had to first catch up on this thread and then sort out my new car tax for next year - i have only just sorted it in time - too busy crocheting. (sometimes i think the whole world will pass me by as i am busy sitting crocheting!)

jean - glad to see you posting. we have sunshine here today - so i am sending some your way.

elaine - sorry about sending you all that sewing. i just could not have faced it. i am so bad that i have a duvet cover here that needs all of its (10) buttons sewn on, and i cannot face it. i am going to have to do it soon as when my SIL visits, she will be appalled that i have not managed to sew the buttons on a year and a half after she pointed out that they were missing. hope that you can raise some money after all your hard work. thank you for taking those off my hands.

may - sewing is just something that i am rubbish at - my mother says that i dont sew, i cobble, and i dont think she is wrong! with regard the dogs, we have caught them in the act, but you are right, we do have some strange neighbours, maybe its them and they want a keepsake before they leave. (believe it or not, our house is in deepest, darkest france - closest shop is 5km away - and we have english neighbours right across the road. however, they dont like us as we tend to mingle with the french people rather than the english - so perhaps it is them. may i was really distressed to hear about your next door puppy. i think that is very sad and that people like that should be locked up and treated the way that they treat their animals. it makes me really cross and if i knew where they lived, i would call the rspca!

anyway, let me get rid of some of this anger (towards nasty humans) in the the gym and then i will come back and try and have another go at decluttering my study. ISOM you are responsible for that! i have already been through my books - i have 100's - and those that i think i will not read again i have started taking down to the pdsa's shop - they can then be sold to someone else who might enjoy them and i will have a bit more space. unfortunately i am quite sentimental and therefore keep loads and loads of rubbish - but must get rid of it.

anyway, happy stitching, in whatever form it takes. have a wonderful sunny day everyone.

• hello lovely ladies and any men who may lurk (please come out and be a proud man knitter if you do!!)...goodless me so may posts..forgive me if I forget!
Miol good to have a break from the wine...liver can only process so much!
Elaine...huge hugs for you...the first firsts are the hardest...
May - phone the rspca and report them...sounds like neglect to me...like you makes my blood boil...on that note I have heard from my new cat mummies and cats are settling but trying it on with food - ie saying that they only like wet food so I've told new mummies to say theyvebeen scuppered - wet am and dried rest of time whether they like it or not!!Little b+++ers!
Went to chat to kniting shop about the groups and saw a gorgeous crochetted baby blankie (granny squares?)...does anyone have a pattern as much make one for a baby due next year! I loved it - so snuggly!
Glad my declutter has had an impact...lots of people seem to have been affected because I've felt liberated by stuff...despite pretty much tidying most of the stuff now there are still empty shelves!
Had long chats with new lodger over a bottle of wine...will take her a while to get stuff sorted as she has LOADS of stuff. Told her about internet forum and she doesent get it - prefers to live in the real world!!
By the way re my location on planet zog am messy flat on the left!
ohh and welcome Rachel!

Maytaurus - I managed to get another couple of hours sleep in the end! Regarding the puppy, why don't you contact the RSPCA? I think you can do it anonymously. It must break your heart to hear it crying.

The mushrooms were identified and confirmed as safe. Well, my neighbour said her father-in-law had cooked and eaten the ones she gave him and, so far, was still alive! We'll have them for lunch today; if we survive, I'll let you know what they were like! I've taken photos of them and will post them on my blog when I have the time.

Well, I'd better get on with breakfast for all the visitors.

Have a great day.

Morning ladies.

Maytaurus thanks for the information about the light box, I'll probably go with your recommendation. With regards to the puppy, I'm not sure what is regarded as cruelty or 'just neglect' these days by the powers that be, but it could be worth a phone call to find out. Are you on speaking terms with the neighbours,(they don't sound like your kind of people.) If you mentioned that he's crying, probably missing his mum and siblings, and cold would they listen? I do think people should be 'vetted' before they're allowed to take on a pet. On my soapbox again, sorry, but it makes me so angry. If all else fails steal him and send him to me;)

ISOM your cats soud like real characters, it's nice that you can still keep in touch with them though. Sounds like you'll get on reasonably well with your lodger, finges crossed. I wish I was near enough to join your knitting group.

mioliere I love old places and their history, please tell us more.

Elaine (((hugs))).

Love to everyone, xxx
