Oh dear. Have finished my bug pencil topper. Jean Greenhowe's looks happy and neat - mine looks slightly grumpy and deformed. Might have to add a hat to detract from the rest of it. On the other hand that would be more sewing for me to mess up
. Maybe I should try another one - never know, I might get the hang of it .
Going to cast on a quick boob before bed - I know I can do them!
g'mornin K2tog,
I bet your bug is from planet Zog, either that or its escaped from under my spare bed :rotfl:!! Did you have to sew the face by any chance?:D

xPam :smileyhea. Might have to leave the fiddly stuff alone for a bit and go back to it when I've done some stuff I can finish properly so I don't get completely disheartened.

It’s the old story Kinsey .... so many things to make & so little time
This is the sad light I’ve been using for the last few yrs, I did a lot of research before I bought it
& I highly recommend it
Make sure you have a good luck at all the info & prices before you buy one, as there are some cheap ones on the market that just don’t do anything

It’s not just ‘the naughty kids getting their own way just to keep the peace’
It also applies to the adults I’m afraid, believe me I know
Even the country’s law makers and upholders are forced to move home because of targeted threats & vandalism on homes and families
It’s a very sad / annoying fact I’m afraid
I hope things work out OK

Hi all. Hope you are all well.
F1 and Shaz - good luck sorting out the bullying problem. Shaz - I'd be hopping mad, too. As Maytaurus said, it's not just bullying children who get away with things. Everything seems topsy-turvy and it's the innocent who dip out.
Maytaurus - that first photo was so accurate, you must have been there! She didn't look as glamorous as the second photo when the teeth were in, though!
Shez - belated birthday greetings to you. Wish I was still 29! Sigh - that was many summers ago!
K2tog - I love the description of your bug. You've really made me laugh!
Well, obviously no woolly stuff has been done at Chez Mioliere for days now. We've been taking our visitors out to see all the places we have found. The weather has been fantastic, which has made all the difference because we've been able to sit outside in the garden for meals and so on. If it had been wet and windy like the week before, it would have been so different. We went to our local fishing resort yesterday, which is such a lovely place, it takes my breath away every time we go there.
Today, we are staying local and visiting the St Jacques Gate in our own town of Parthenay - it's the scene of many battles between the English and the French centuries ago. At one point, apparently, they made holes in the roof of the arched gate and threw stones and boiling oil at us as we rampaged through! Luckily, they seem to like us now! It's full of history in that part of town, which is known as the medieval quarter. It has many half-timbered houses that are over 500 years old and still being lived in. There is also a sinister looking prison and you can look inside the cells - scary stuff. It's quite high up and you can see the whole of the town from there.
Our visitors have been loving the French cafes and we have been consuming vast amounts of coffee on our travels. Last night we invited our neighbours around for 'aperitifs' and had great fun with them all. We've been noticing big white blobs in the farmer's fields that we can see from our back garden; our neighbours told us they were vesse de loup (which means, believe it or not, wolf's scrotum!), but the English know them as puffball mushrooms. They are as big as a human head. We went and picked some, and our neighbours are going to get them identified today to confirm that they are safe, then we shall fry them with some butter and garlic as part of tonight's dinner.
Anyway, I can't talk about wool at all except to say that, although I am really enjoying our friends company, I can't wait to sit down on my sofa and knit or crochet! I don't think I've sat on the sofa at all this week!
Hope you all have a great day.

Happy belated birthday Shelley :bdaycake:. Glad you had a nice day.
Well, another typical day in the Wilson household yesterday... Spent most of it in the emergency department, where brother Lawrence was rushed for a suspected heart attack. Luckily it doesn't seem to have been one at this stage... although that's what they told brother Alan the other week and *that* turned out to be one. Anyway Lawrence is home and doing ok at the moment.
Seems like I've not had such a bad time as some of you though.
ISOM: How awful it is to have to give up your cats, but I'm glad you will still get to see them.
And terrible that bullying is in any way still tolerated in schools in this day and age - I really thought that there were programmes in most schools to deal with this sort of thing. I know there is a young boy somewhere who has a web site to help youngsters deal with it. It's aimed at getting them in touch with other youngsters who are going through the same thing, so they don't feel so alone. Unfortunately I can't remember his name, just know I've seen him on TV before. You could always do a google search.
Found this site which seems to be fun for kids, even if it's not the one I was thinking of:

Looking like a nice few days weather wise, so I see lines full of washing in my near future
Take care

morning all
happy birthday for yesterday shelley.
may - we are not permanently in france yet (thanks the the economy and my husbands job), but hopefully some time soon. i love it there and miss the french life, the neighbours and the doggies (who come and visit every day, and, we have noticed, like to remove items - like single shoes - which they can keep to remind themselves of us when we are not around).
well have crocheted about a foot of a blanket for one of the beds and have decided that its just not thick enough (its about 2m wide) and its a bit floppy and insubstantial, so have decided to go to the shop this morning and get some more wool for that.
also have to get some so that i can make a scarf for the bee project - i have looked at loads of patterns and to be honest the only one that i have liked is the ripple/curley wurley one, so i think i will crochet one like that for that appeal.
other than that i have been trying very hard to do loads of squares in preparation for my SIL's journey back to south africa - my target is 150 - only about 25 or so more to go!!! after that i want to finish a large oxfam jumper that i started - am halfway - so that should take me a week to finish - better get my skates on!
anyway, well done ISOM on seeing the good things in sharing your cats with someone else - and also seeing the downside in getting a lodger (unfortunately i have that very same very bad habit, which can be very embarrassing if the postie is on the doorstep and looking in when you are doing it - our loo is straight up the stairs from the front door!!!)
have a fabulous day everyone!

thanks may for the operation christmas child link, i think i will have a go at making some hand puppets, the community centre we use for the knit and natter group is having a fair next month, to raise much needed funds to keep it open, so as well as scarves i'll do those which are quick.
