  • Morning all,

    Dpixie - can I have some sunshine too? It's very grey here. How often do you go to the gym? you probably have been more times in a week than I have ever been in my life. DH bought me a pair of shape up trainers( think he's trying to tell me something:o)

    Maytaurus - That poor puppy, it must be so upsetting for you being the animal lover that you are. I thought my neighbours were bad enough they just let theirs run around in the back yard and hardly ever take him for walks, and the smell from his business that they only clear up every other day or so gets quite bad. At least on the plus side he isn't left out all night. I think maybe the fact that they are keeping the puppy in a makeshift enclosure could be classed as cruelty though. I won't go to bed unless my cats back in and asleep on the armchair safe. Hope it gets sorted soon.:A

    ISOM - Hope your new housemate settles in and you get on well.:D

    Orkneystar - your boob is fantastic, so much better than my first attempt, I found the all in one pattern the easiest to follow. Love the colours some of mine looked positively alien.;)

    Shelley - Happy belated birthday, sorry I missed it. Oh to be 29 again, I am jealous.:bdaycake:
    Welcome to Rachel, good luck with your lessons.:T

    Right I must get on, take care all.x

    Maytaurus: It would certainly be worth phoning the RSPCA to get the official lowdown on what is allowed and what isn't.
    A dog should be okay outside as long as there is some sort of shelter from rain etc; more worrying is that as dogs are pack animals the pup is probably very lonely - hence the crying at night etc. As you know, dogs need stimulation and interaction, if not from other animals then from there human 'pack'

    Anways, this gave me great comfort today and I hope will to others.

    He was better than all my hopes,
    He was better than all my fears;
    He made a bridge of my broken works,
    And a rainbow of my tears.
    The billows that guarded my sea-girth path,
    But carried my Lord on their crest;
    When I dwell in the days of my wilderness march
    I can lean on His love for the rest.

    He emptied my hands of my treasured store,
    And his covenant love revealed,
    There was not a wound in my aching heart,
    But the balm of his breath has healed,
    Oh tender and true was the chastening store
    In wisdom, that taught and tried,
    Till the soul that He sought was trusting in Him
    And nothing on earth beside.

    He guided my paths that I could not see,
    By ways that I have not known;
    The crooked was straight, and the rough was plain
    As I followed the Lord alone.
    I praise him still for the pleasant palms,
    And the water springs by the way,
    For the glowing pillar of flame by night
    And the sheltering cloud by day.

    Never a watch on the dreariest halt,
    But some promise of love endears;
    I read from the past, that my future shall be
    Far better than all my fears,
    Like the golden pot, of the wilderness bread,
    Laid up with the blossoming rod,
    All safe in the ark, with the law of the Lord,
    Is the covenant care of my God.

    Maytaurus - I can sympathise with you re doggy next door. My neighbour has a dog which barks when there is no-one in the house. It wasn`t tooooo bad until she started going out to work full time. Now the poor thing barks from the time she goes out about 7am until she comes home 5ish. Her 2 sons are sometimes there and the dog is quiet but if they go out.........bark bark bark. It`s so bad I sometimes have to go out just for some peace and quiet. Wool shopping therapy ;).
    Have often thought about reporting her as it can`t be good for the poor thing to be constantly barking ??

    Mind you, I don`t know if my 2 mutts bark their heads off when I go out - they`re maybe as bad :confused:

    Mioliere - don`t you sit on the sofa knitting / crocheting while talking to your friends ? I always have something on the go while I`m nattering, has to be something which can be done without to much concentration tho`.

    dpixie - have sewn together quite a few squares already for pet blankies, hope I get a few pennies for them. That`s the only snag about this sale, I have to SELL the items and folk will expect to get things for next to nothing. At least with a tombola you will get a few £ss.

    Not much knitting done here today, I had the 2 grandchildren here this morning as it was a school holiday and decided to do some sewing up and had a REAL la la moment. I managed to sew a sleeve into my gents jumper and it was inside out :eek: I`d almost finished stitching it up when I noticed and had to take it all out again:mad: so it got thrown in the corner to be dealt with later - MUCH later.

    Off to have a nosy on the LH forum and see what`s been happening there, although it`s not nearly as lively as here I must say, then do a few rows of one of the WIP`s - which one will it be I wonder ??

    Bye for now.

    ISOM - look on attic24`s blog - down the left hand side you`ll find dead easy instructions. I managed to follow them no bother and I only recently started to crochet.

    Hi everyone
    Just popping in. I think I'm going to run out of wool to finish my vent hat - I hate it when that happens! It'll have to have a 2 tone top I think.
    Will try to update this weekend as the list is growing impressively long but only due to it being so long since I last updated ;).
    ISOM, it sounds like you have been overzealous and decluttered Ferg's jumper away :eek:. First rule; stashes and WIPs are supposed to be a cluttery pile :D

    j0271200%2520THANK%2520YOU%2520DOG.gifeveryone for the understanding / empathy about the puppy :A
    Re the RSPCA ... as it is a sad fact that human beings can be extremely cruel, the RSPCA have so many terrible cases of ill treatment/neglect, that although the puppy’s circumstances could be much improved, the fact that it is fed watered and has shelter, means that it is a lot better off than many other poor animals who suffer at the hands of so called Homo sapiens "wise or knowing persons"
    I have been thinking about what to say to them and how to say it ....
    Decided I will keep my eye on him and make sure at the first appropriate opportunity;
    (hopefully nonchalantly! For the moment) that they know he/she could have a new home with my daughter if a time should ever arise because she’s always wanted one just like him/her (only a very small fib )
    Please will anyone who hasn’t already done a pet blankie consider doing one?
    (or those that have consider making another one)

    reyou are right, we do have some strange neighbours’
    I thought I’d mentioned B4 that I’m psychic...
    Re;’ we have English neighbours right across the road. however, they dont like us as we tend to mingle with the French people rather than the English’
    Makes you really wonder why they are living in France doesn’t it?
    Personally, I see all people as just that ..... People

    Good luck with the light box, let me know how you go on
    I am ‘on speaking terms with the neighbours,’ but you’re right ‘they are not my kind of people.’

    Ooh big hugs Elaine ... if you are anything like me you will have sewn it NEVER to come undone
    Been there done that got the t shirt ... like with so many other things in life l-o-l
    RE ‘Now the poor thing barks from the time she goes out about 7am until she comes home 5ish’
    of course you can always complain to the local council stating your concern for the dogs .... but again .... would it make anything better etc etc
    It's a bit like the old ? about how long a piece of string is & so we are often left not knowing what to do for the best
    .....:confused:
    *‘Wool shopping therapy’ INDEED*
    Any excuse to increase your stash Elaine!
    I can’t really say anything though .... as I got another delivery of wool this am & OH asked me if I was hinting that I wanted to move (I think there is some humour in that somewhere?*)

    Hi everyone. Just popping in quickly as we had a late night last night and have just woken up. We visited a vineyard for some wine-tasting then had a lovely meal with friends.

    Elaine - we seem to spend all our time at the kitchen table, not sitting down on the sofa, so I haven't been able to get any knitting or crochet done! I can't get comfy that way. I did take my crochet with me in the car yesterday, though, because we had an hour's drive to get where we were going. It was too dark on the way home, though, and the sky was so full of stars that it would have been difficult to concentrate on anything else. The night sky here is wonderful because there is no light pollution.

    Well, it's our visitors' last night day today so I think we are going shopping - they have seen some lovely things to take back with them - if there's room in their car. They spent a lot of money at the vineyard yesterday! They couldn't decide which wine to buy so bought a bit of everything - most of it cost around €25 for 15 litres, so they have really stocked up until their next visit here next summer!

    The weather has been wonderful every day - almost as it I had ordered it! They have both caught the sun and look really well and relaxed, so I hope being here has been a tonic for them. We've enjoyed it and will miss them when they go, but will enjoy getting back to normal! I haven't done much in the way of housew**k for almost a week!

    ISOM - don't worry that you are offending people. I echo what Maytaurus said - she found just the right words.

    DPixie - we have lots of English friends and relatives about an hour from here, but only French neighbours where we live, so we have a healthy mix of both. I can't understand anyone objecting to you mixing with the French in France - it's part of being here, isn't it? Plus, I think it's the best way of learning the language.

    Well, I'd better go and have a shower, so I'll see you all later.

    Have a great day.

    KathyXX

    Anyway, I'd better go and have a shower.

    morning everyone - another lovely day here - and i am trying to beam some sunshine to everyone - if you can't see it, i hope that you can feel it.

    onlygirl - i dont mind the gym, but after a recent visit to the nurse at our local surgery, she told me that i was so overweight (67kg - i am 1.60m tall) that i was at a very serious risk of having a stroke etc - she put the most incredible fear into me - i am only 40, far too young to have a stroke etc. anyway as i am reasonable fit and healthy, i have decided to take her "advice" and have started on a diet and have upped my gym attendance in order to try to loose some of the weight. i am going to try to loose about 10kg - thats my target! anyway, i go to the gym about 4 times a week and try to walk for an hour the other days.

    isom - what lovely words, not offensive at all. its things like that that pull us through hard times, so you can't knock them.

    may - dont mind the slight alteration to my words - it really does anger me that people can treat an animal in a cruel way. it normally takes a lot for my temper to show itself, but that is one very quick and sure way to see me very angry! if you still need a pet blankie, let me know what size and i will start one with all my scraps - i was going to anyway, so this can take pride of place - if you like.

    kathy - it seems that our english neighbour decided that french was just too difficult and so all they do is mix with the local english people (there are about 3 other couples) and they prefer it if the english "keep themselves to themselves". i was astounded when she told us, why one earth would one want to live in france. i dont know how they cope as our region is very rural with very few english speakers, other than the english. anyway, they are moving in a couple of months and have sold to a french couple, even more improvement to my french!!!

    have a fantastic day everyone.
