Ooohh nooooo - not dpns (I had a try with them recently and admitted defeat - didn't have enough hands) the shaping is purely through the increases and decreases. I must confess, my nipples never look as neat as the ones in the pic .

I have managed the body part fine, and it looks okish for a first attempt (will post on yahoo wooligans page soon).....I tried knitting base, looked too tight, tried crocheting but did not work very well/was taking ages!, so back to knitting this time and looking a bit better as knitting a bit looser. Might resort to cutting some felt or fabric if I can find some pink stuff lurking around (or even white). I like dpns for hats and socks, as long as I remember what way I am going!!

Orkneystar - try this one, it`s all knitted, from the base upwards.

Double knitting wool – flesh coloured – 1 ball (choose your flesh colour!)
similar but darker colour - 1 ball
    Pair of 3 ¼ mm needles/UK size 10

Cast on 6 stitches for base of breast
    1st row. Knit
    2nd row K1 (m1 k1) to end. 11 st
3rd and every alt row to 15th row Purl
    4th row K1 (m1 k1) to end. (21 st)
    6th row K1 (m1 k2) to end. (31 st)
    8th row k1 (m1 k3) to end. (41 st)
    10th row K1 (m1 k4) to end. (51 st)
    12th row K1 (m1 K5) to end. (61 st)
    14th row K1 (m1 K6) to end (71 st)
    15th row Knit
    16th row Knit
    17th row purl

Work, starting with a knit row, st st for 20 rows

    38th row: K1, *K2 tog, K5, rep from * to end
    39th and alternate rows: Purl
    40th row: K1, *K2 tog, K4, rep from * to end
Continue to decrease in this way and after 3rd decrease change to darker wool to
    make the areola.
Continue decreasing until the K1, *K2 tog, from * to end has been worked.
Nipple: st st 4 rows (see below for amendments).

Break yarn, thread through rem stitches, draw up and fasten off.
With work inside out, sew sides together but leave a gap for stuffing. Gather round cast on sts and sew seam.

In darker wool on the wrong side of work, make a draw-string stitch around the
base of the nipple, draw up and fasten off. If this stitch is drawn tightly it makes a
“Page 3” nipple. Drawing up less tightly makes a less prominent nipple.
Experiment to get the type you want. (Wish it were this easy in real life!) NB It is
good to have a variety of shapes and sizes, just as women do (very flat, very
small/large, inverted etc), so they can see that all can work!

Turn right side out and stuff. Close seam.

Different sizes of breast can be made by amending the
pattern, and different firmness achieved by amount of stuffing. ;)

Good luck, they are really easy once you get the hand of it and you can do them in all sizes and colours. Great for using all the odds and ends.

oops, sorry for the verrrry long post, but took the whole pattern from the LH site as I couldn`t find the original boob pattern I used.

Evening Elaine! Don't know if you saw earlier but Lou has been trying to get hold of you. Are you still madly knitting DGDs bedroom furnishings?
I'm continuing my adventures with little fiddly stuff (bug pencil toppers this evening) and cursing my clumsiness - which I think is why dpns are beyond me :(. It sometimes occurs to me that if i was born in a different time (very olden days!) and was expected to be able to do "lady" things like sew and draw, I'd probably have been drowned as a witch or disowned or something. Oh to be a delicate flower....
Glad you're smiling ISOM. If I had an "arrange knitting group, get free wool" arrangement going on, I'd be well chuffed - well done you!
    Hope everyone is OK

Oh dear. Have finished my bug pencil topper. Jean Greenhowe's looks happy and neat - mine looks slightly grumpy and deformed. Might have to add a hat to detract from the rest of it. On the other hand that would be more sewing for me to mess up :o. Maybe I should try another one - never know, I might get the hang of it .
Going to cast on a quick boob before bed - I know I can do them!
